Friday morning at the auto shop briefs

Nobody told me it’s still dark after 7 a.m. Okay, it’s a cold, wet, rainy day (shout-out to the NYC #OWSers!), but still….

Well, this is different: An Iranian soldier whose parents converted to Islam to save their lives wants to make aliyah. The Mossad and Israeli government are currently investigating. How cool will that be? How pissed off will the Iranians be? Yes, I know they could be sending him in as a spy, but seriously? Do you think this guy is going to get access to any sensitive information? Yeah, me neither.

It’s the weenie contingent of the UNSC: France and Britain will abstain rather than vote for or against the Palestinian application for statehood. Way to make a statement, cowards! The U.S. needs nine no-votes to prevent a veto. Looks like Obama’s magic touch with our allies continues apace. Update: Okay, my bad. The Palestinians need nine yes-votes to force the veto, so it doesn’t matter if France and the U.K. take the weenie position.

Closer and closer to Gaza they came: The latest convoy of fools is nearing Gaza. Same old stuff, different day. They say they’ve all signed a non-violence pledge. We’ll see. Extra credit points to the person who recognizes the song lyric in the subhead for this entry.

Update: And the IDF has captured the latest ship of fools with no violence. You sort of have to wonder: What was the point?
