The Goldstone Report Kangaroo Court

The UN-Israel follies continue, as the next act in the “Let’s give Israel a fair trial and then find her guilty” show moves from the Human Wrongs Commission to the UN Security Council, where America’s vote can be the difference between stopping this travesty or allowing the steamroller to continue.

Make no mistake, the Goldstone report is all about delegitimizing Israel as a nation of laws. The report is filled with lies, anti-Israel propaganda, and downplays or ignores Hamas crimes against Israel that caused the Gaza war.

Israel’s Minstry of Foreign Affairs had a press conference about the harm that this report is doing not only to the Israel’s legal system in the world, but to all nations’ laws, because if the UN can declare that a free and democratic nation’s legal system is illegitimate, well—it’s sort of a rerun of the rights of Jews being stripped away by the nations of Europe, isn’t it?

Elder of Zion has the most frightening aspects of what Goldstone is doing to Israel.

The second reason why I think this report has generated such a strong response is that it represents a full frontal attack on the Israeli legal system. And this is something that should worry not just Israel but also most Western and democratic countries that have very, very similar systems for actually investigating and checking their conduct in the course of military operations.

[…] I’ll just finish the legal aspect by saying that obviously all of the decisions along the way, whether it’s the decision of the Military Advocate General or the Attorney General whether to open criminal proceedings or not open criminal proceedings, are all subject to review by our Supreme Court, which, as you know, can be petitioned for judicial review by Israelis, Palestinians, human rights organizations.

So, really, the dismissive attitude of the report for this entire system is very, very troubling, very troubling for Israel, very troubling for other countries that have similar systems, and troubling for other countries that often rely on the jurisprudence of our Supreme Court. I actually just received through my e-mail today, a decision of a Canadian Court, a Superior Court in Montreal, which last week relied on the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court. And so the attack on the legitimacy of this report is troubling from a legal point of view.

Read the rest. It’s very troubling.

Also troubling is this video for the astonishing—or perhaps, not really astoinishing—amount of conformity of anti-Israel comments on the report. They hit the same words, the same phrases, the same theme, over and over again. It is a coordinated effort to attack Israel in the world forum, since the Arabs failed time and time again by attacking Israel physically to destroy the Jewish state. What they cannot accomplish by arms, they think, they can accomplish by strategy.

And right now, their strategy is winning. Israel is being delegitimized in the eyes of the world. The comments that I get here every time Yahoo! News links my post bring the same themes: Israel “stole” the land. Israelis are “colonialists.” The Jews who moved to Israel aren’t really descendants of the Jews who lived there in Biblical times. And anyway, even if they are, the Palestinians are really the Philistines, so they trump Jewish ownership of the land, because the Jews found the Philistines there already. All of these are false, and yet, I see them over and over, here, and on every other internet site where Israel is discussed and comments are unmoderated.

The world’s delegitimization of Israel continues apace. It’s time to be very, very worried.

    Yup.

Another tactic that anti-Israel ideologues use is to perpetually accuse Israel of what its enemies do. For example, if Hamas is a terrorist organization, than Israel is accused of being a “terrorist state.” If Hamas hides behind human shields, than they accuse Israel of hiding behind human shields. If the Palestinians are intransigent in negotiations, or refuse to negotiate, than they accuse Israel of not wanting peace, and so forth.

One of the sad things about all this, unfortunately, is that in the west it is among liberals and leftists that we find the greatest proportion of ideological Israel hatred. And I say this as a liberal and a Democrat. The Democratic party grassroots / netroots is just seething with contempt for the Jewish state. Sad to say, but there it is.

Of course, one of the translations of “P’lishtim” which the Romans transliterated to “Palestine” and which the Arab immigrants of the 1870’s eventually (after 1946) took to calling themselves “Palestinians” actually means “invaders”.
The “Philistines were colonists from the Meditteranian (Crete? – I am not sure) who founded the five cities including the one for which the Gaza strip is named. They attempted to conquer and rule the Israelites and were finally defeated by King David. While they never attempted to fully conquer the Israelites, they expended a great deal of effort in preventing the rise of a unified state (much like the Arabs of today). While the Arabs of today are not the physical descendants of the P’lishtim, they are the spiritual descendats of those enemies of yore. Indeed, they will wind up suffering the same fate.

It’s not just that he finds Israel’s legal system, which in fact is about as open as any in the world, to be secretive, it’s that he finds Hamas’s legal system to be more just and open than Israel’s. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could be further from the truth.

But I am sure Goldstone rests secure in the knowledge that he has proved he’s not like those dirty, oppressive Israelis; he can rise above all that and show sympathy for the other side. Phooey.

“And I say this as a liberal and a Democrat.” Karmafish, how can you still support this bankrupt ideology? I left the liberal dems many years ago when I realized how twisted their Israel logic had become, and how if they were so wrong about this fundamental subject, then how valid was the rest of their thought process? Try being independent, and support those that support Israel, because that is really the foundation of good vs. evil in this world.
