Here there be spoilers. But I’ll put them in the comments.

  1. I think Starbuck is a hybrid. I think her father is Daniel, the Cylon that Cavil destroyed. He was an artist, Ellen said—and Starbuck’s father was a pianist.

Ellen wouldn’t know about him if, say, Cavil had banished him to live among the humans as well. And it would certainly explain why Leoben knows so much about Starbuck. It also explains why there can be another Starbuck. What did Simon take from her when she was in the Cylon Farm on Caprica? There was a scar near her ovary. Did they take her eggs and grow a few more Starbucks?

And if they grew a new one, yes, they could manipulate her memories of what happened to her. It also fits into the prophecy that Starbuck will lead humanity to its “end”—it doesn’t have to be the end of humanity, per se, but the end of humanity as in: Time to have a blended human/cylon society.

    And then there’s this:

When Starbuck’s ship explodes, just after she has seen the girl and at approximated 3:10 remaining, a faint but distinctive “by your…(command)” can be heard in the metallic voice of the Centurions from the original series. The word “command” comes after a short delay and is mostly masked by the sound of the explosion. This, possible Easter egg or foreshadowing device, is best heard with only the centre channel of 5.1 Dolby Digital selected.

One of the things that my theory hinged on was whether or not the resurrection hub still existed when Starbuck died. She died in episode 317. The hub was destroyed in 411.

I guess we’ll find out next week if I’m right.

  2. Jay Tea says:

That beats the other theory I heard — that Baltar was “Daniel,” and that the DNA damage done to the “Daniel” line was so severe that it became Kara.

Hey, they made a female Wolverine clone…

    J.

  3. And now I think that the face we’re not seeing is going to be Baltar’s.

I wonder if he’s one of Daniel’s sons as well.
