Proving that stupid politicians are an international problem

You think American politicians are stupid? Well, so are the politicians of the rest of the world. This one is PETA’s best bud:

MK Ahmad Tibi (United Arab List-Ta’al) proposed Tuesday that the Knesset ban MKs from wearing leather garments within its walls.

Tibi proposed the act as part of the new code of ethics the Knesset wishes to issue its members.

“This is a moral act that carries with it an important public message,” said Tibi at the meeting held by the code of ethics committee, which discussed the proper dress code for MKs.

“If my motion is carried, MKs would not be able to come to the Knesset wearing leather coats or shoes, or sporting clothes with fur.

I’m sorry, but are there men’s dress shoes that aren’t leather? And why exactly would this be an important issue?

Yep. Politicians are stupid all over.

Well, it is Israel. Anything other than sandals are dress shoes.

  2. Sabba Hillel says:

Many of the men’s shoes are artificial material. They just look like leather

This is something that appears to ba a moral decision but is not. Like PETA, he would object to killing animals, while supporting killing humans Jooos.

As soon as I read this I went to my bedroom and changed from my canvas Chucks to my leather shoes…and not man-made stuff, either, genuine leather.

Reminds me next year on EATAPETA Day to make sure I’m wearing leather shoes, leather belt, and carrying a leather wallet. I don’t have a leather jacket but it might be worth buying one for the occasion.

Unfortunately all this stuff is made from cowhide. If they decide to make wallets from the skin of cute little lambies, I’ll buy one.

“Unfortunately all this stuff is made from cowhide. If they decide to make wallets from the skin of cute little lambies, I’ll buy one.”

Alex, I used to work with leather years and years ago. Lamb skin and even skin from full grown sheep is too fragile to use for wallets. If you want lamb skin, you’ll have to go out and buy that coat, or a vest or maybe a cap — all of which will set you back a lot more than good ole durable cowhide.

Now if you really want to upset the PETA-niks, you can get any of the above (except maybe the wallet) out of Bambi hide. Again, more costly than cow hide, but just as durable and worth the extra cost.

  5. The really amusing thing (which probably infuriates PETA – a double-bonus) is that nobody slaughters cows just for leather (unlike some animals that are killed just for their fur.) The hides are taken from cows slaughtered for food.

So, in a very real sense, one could respond “Why is this a problem? It’s not like the cow was using it anymore.”

PETA are against eating meat, as well. This is known as being in a vegetative state.
