Too too bad, Tutu

Looks like Desmond Tutu isn’t going to get another round of Israel-bashing after all.

Israel has blocked a U.N. fact-finding mission to the Gaza Strip that was to be led by Nobel Laureate Desmond Tutu, officials said Monday.

Tutu was to begin leading a six-member team over the past weekend in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun to investigate the killings of 19 civilians in an Israeli artillery barrage last month.

But Israel refused to grant the South African anti-apartheid campaigner the necessary travel clearance, said officials in two separate U.N. departments. They spoke on condition of anonymity because Tutu was planning to meet with reporters in Geneva later Monday.

But don’t worry, the AP will help you bash Israel without even asking!

The Israeli army claimed Beit Hanoun was a rocket-launching stronghold.

Gee, why would Israel “claim” that Beit Hanoun was a “rocket-launching stronghold”? Could it be because, well, palestinian terrorists regularly launch rockets from Beit Hanoun?

About time Israel got some stones and told the Israel-haters to go eff off.

Too too bad, Tutu.

He could stop off at Darfur on the way home and commiserate with the Sudanese about how uncooperative those Jooz are.

It won’t do him any good to complain to Kofi Annan anymore.

    Things ae looking up!

  2. Ed Hausman says:

    Things ARE looking up.

  3. Norm says:

Why only stop off in Darfur? How about a stopover in Zimbabwe, where he can discuss with Mugabe about the terrible treatment of the Palestinians.
UN fact-finding mission must be an oxymoron.
Who will head the next UN jolly David Duke or David Irving?

  4. Alex Bensky says:

Can anyone tell me why it’s the Israelis who are blocking him from Gaza. Gaza has a small port and an airport, not to mention a border with Egypt.

We know that crossing the Gaza-Egyptian border is possible because arms and explosives do it all the time. So what is the reason that Tutu has to go through Israel–well, except that it makes propaganda?

  5. Sabba Hillel says:

He is afraid that he will be killed if he goes through anywhere except Israel since he is theoretically a Christian. If he goes through Israel, the Jooooz have to provide him with bodyguards and he can complain that they are preventing him from meeting the people
