The palestinian shell game continues

Is the game near an end? Have the terrorists managed to put together a good enough cover story that the EU is going to go back to paying terrorists while ignoring the murders their money sponsors?

First, AP shills for Ismail Haniyeh, who offers to resign not because he wants peace with Israel, but because he wants the EU’s money:

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Friday he would be willing to sacrifice his job if the international community would lift economic sanctions that have crippled his Hamas-led government.

Haniyeh’s statement was the latest indication that the Islamic Hamas group was nearing a deal to form a national unity government with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ moderate Fatah Party that would be made up of independent experts.

Such a coalition would presumably present a more moderate face to the world and convince the West to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in international funding.

“When the issue of the siege is on one side, and my being prime minister is on the other, let the siege be lifted to end the suffering of the Palestinian people,” Haniyeh said, referring to the sanctions that have caused widespread hardship in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Once again, though the palestinians are presumed to be suffering hardship, they have the wherewithal to import tons of explosives, rockets, guns, and ammunition. But Israel is forcing them to forego the Eid feasting. Because the world won’t pay the pals until Hamas stops murdering Israelis and says it won’t destroy Israel. So it’s Israel’s fault, you see.

Well, now they say a deal is near. Mind you, they’ve said that for months, only to see the deal drop through at the last moment, so if you were to place any bets on this, I’d place the bet on the deal falling through. But this seems to be the closest they’ve ever come to actually doing the deed.

DAMASCUS, Syria Nov 11, 2006 (AP)— A senior Hamas official said that a deal on forming a Palestinian national unity government was near, adding that an agreement on the name of the new prime minister has been reached.

[…] Abu Marzouk said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas officials have agreed on the name of the candidate for the Palestinian prime minister, saying he is a well-known Palestinian personality.

He declined to disclose the candidate’s name, saying: “It will be disclosed at the suitable time.”

Abbas said Saturday from the West Bank that he hoped to form a coalition government with the Islamic Hamas party by the end of the month.

This is the part that scares me:

“I tell my people that we have achieved great progress on the way to forming a national unity government that can end the siege and open the horizons for political solutions that will end the occupation forever,” Abbas said at a ceremony marking two years since the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Mahmoud Abbas is an Arafat in “moderate’s” clothing. There is no substantial difference between him and the murdering scumbag who is rotting in hell right now. There is only the perception of the world that he is a moderate. I assure you, he is not. He has never condemned a single murderous attack against Israeli civilians, other than to say they “harm the palestinian cause.” The PLO has never really changed its charter, the one that calls for the destruction of Israel. The PA is full of thugs who are complicit and who take part in suicide bombings. The difference between Abbas and Haniyeh is that Abbas has learned to lie better. When he says “end the occupation,” I don’t think he means a return to the 1949 Armistice lines. He’s a Muslim, too. He means the end of Israel. He just covers it better than his fellow terrorists.

Here is the real reason for the “unity government” cover story:

“All the measures undertaken by Hamas aim at breaking the siege on the Palestinian people, otherwise there would be no need for (government) change,” Abu Marzouk said.

They want their money. That’s all. Gaza has been independent for a year, and the only industry that has benefited from that freedom is the industry of terror and death. The EU and the UN have created millions of welfare-dependent terrorist supporters. Way to go, guys! Way to not make an entire people responsible and independent. No wonder France has so much trouble with its Muslim minority. They’re simply using the PA example as the one to follow. Expect suicide bombers in Paris any day now.

Do we really need any more proof of Iran and Syria’s proxy war against Israel than the following?

Kaddoumi, who had held talks in Damascus with Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas’ political bureau, said before leaving Damascus late Friday for Iran that talks over the formation of the government have achieved progress.

“But there are still some details that need to be worked out,” he told reporters in Damascus.

By the way, those were the final two paragraphs in the article. Nobody reads to the end of a news article, generally. That should have been up high in the lead, but no, can’t have any negative information on the pals going to the average reader. That’s why it’s always buried deep in the article.

Let’s see if they truly are going to form a “unity” government (with the blessings of Iran and Damascus), or it’s going to fall apart yet again. I’m hoping for the latter.
