Gay rights in Israel

Israel’s gays are about to get full inheritance rights for their partners.

Homosexual couples are to be able to inherit each other’s property after death without making a special court application.

This unprecedented provision is one of several proposed reforms to the country’s inheritance laws that the Justice Ministry plans on publishing within the next few weeks and submitting to Justice Minister Haim Ramon for approval.

The memorandum of reforms was drafted by a public commission headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Jacob Turkel. The commission was appointed seven years ago.

This change consists of deleting the words “husband and wife” from the definition of a couple for the purposes of inheritance laws, so that they apply to gay as well as straight pairs.

Let’s take a look at homosexual rights in various Arab/Muslim countries:

Saudi Arabia: None
Iran: None
Egypt: None
Jordan: None
Lebanon: None
Syria: None

And that concludes the gay rights portion of today’s Israel news, and reinforces the stupidity of the gay rights communities of the United States and Europe, who support the palestinians unflinchingly. In the meantime, palestinian homosexuals flee to Israel for safety.

  1. You need to stipulate that the lack of homosexual rights in the Arab/Islamic world includes the right to live.

As a gay man, I’ve been distressed and shocked by the complete indifference on the part of the Gay Establishment to the horrific human rights abuses of the Arab/Muslim world. Extreme political correctness, muliticultural fantasies, and an unpleasant amount of New Left ideology still afflict even the most mainstream gay and lesbian rights organizations. Most of the gay people I know–liberal and conservative alike–are supportive of Israel and disturbed by the status of homosexuals under Islam. Unfortunately, the hard left ideologues behind the scenes of the major advocacy groups have a near stranglehold on public discourse. Warped as it is, “marginalized and oppressed” groups like gays and lesbians have been manipulated into showing “solidarity” with those Ultimate Victims, the Palestinians, even at the expense of their brutalized queer counterparts in the ME.

The group Jonathon refers to is “Queers For Palestine”. Idiots.

  4. The Doctor says:

Let’s not forget the various state amendments, including the one coming up for a vote here in Virginia this fall, restricting the legal rights of homosexuals. And in many venues a landlord may not refuse to rent based on age, gender, or race but is free to say “no dogs or gays allowed…”
The US of A may not condone burning at the stake, but we’ve got a ways to go before we can avoid being on the list you posted…
