Olmert’s doublespeak

Olmert to World: “We won’t deal with a Hamas-controlled PA or Abbas, because he’s a meaningless figurehead.”

Olmert to Peres: “Sure, you can go and talk to Abbas.”

Kadima candidate Shimon Peres met secretly with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Jordan, the prime minister’s office confirmed Monday.

According to Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office, only economic issues were discussed at the meeting, though Channel Two reported that other issues were discussed as well.

Do Kadima’s numbers go up, down, or stay the same?

  1. Joel says:

Nobody pays attention to Shimon Peres anyway.

  2. Li'l Mamzer says:

Olmert’s real test will be when Kassam rockets are fired into the heart of Israel from the West Bank. And that is only a matter of time.

Shimon Peres is an Israeli treasure–a true-blue Zionist as opposed to his critics in America, especially Orthodox Jews. Doublespeak is the noisy, ignorant, know-it-all, drivel you hear from Jews who say one thing with their mouths and something else with their feet. As an American Jew you might want to compare the behavior of Peres abroad with the behavior of Ramsey Clark or Jimmy Carter abroad. Which of the three is a true patriot? Which of the three better represents his country? Peres enjoys unique credibility among Israel’s enemies. Diplomatically that counts for a lot. Begin and Sharon appreciated this and maybe you should too.
