Iran’s proxy war on Israel

Buried in the London Times’ story on an Israeli plan to attack Tehran’s nuclear sites we find this: The Iranian foreign minister met with three terrorist groups a week before their latest attacks on Israel.

Iran’s foreign minister met leading figures from three Islamic militant groups to co-ordinate a united front against Israel days before a recent escalation of attacks against Israeli targets shattered fragile ceasefires with Lebanon and the Palestinians, writes Hugh Macleod in Damascus.

The minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, held talks with leaders of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah in Damascus on November 15.

Among those who attended the meeting were Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas leader, and a deputy leader of Islamic Jihad, which claimed responsibility for last Monday’s suicide bombing of a shopping mall in Netanya that killed five Israeli citizens.

Ahmed Jibril, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine- General Command, was also present. “We all confirmed that what is going on in occupied Palestine is organically connected to what is going on in Iraq, Syria, Iran and Lebanon,” said Jibril.

Seven days after the talks, Hezbollah fired a volley of rockets and mortars at Israeli targets, sparking the fiercest fighting between the two sides since Israel’s withdrawal from south Lebanon five years ago.

Now isn’t that interesting. A palestinian terrorist admits that Israel is at the front of the war, while the Bush Administration, to pacify the Arabs, no longer mentions Israel whenever he speaks about the War on Terror. (If anyone can find that cite, please email me or put it in these comments–I read that on a blog and can’t remember where.)

And the world ignores this evidence, and insists that the problem is all Israel’s.

The Times article is by an antisemitic Jew. Here are some other article by Uzi Mahnaimi:

Al Qaeda Websites Shut Down? Not Really

Posted by Lawrence Henry on August 12, 2005 – 12:40.
On July 31, The Sunday Times of Britain ran a story headlined, “Finger points to British intelligence as al-Qaeda websites are wiped out.”

“Israeli intelligence agents have noticed something distinctly odd happening on the internet. One by one, Al-Qaeda’s affiliated websites have vanished until only a handful remain, write Uzi Mahnaimi and Alex Pell.”

Apparently not true. Uzi Mahnaimi, characterized to me as “not credible” by Yigal Carmon of MEMRI.org, is a purported former Israeli “spymaster” who writes books. Alex Pell’s byline appears on entertainment and media reporting in British newspapers.

My guess is that Pell wrote the unbylined Times story, and that he and Mahnaimi are shopping a book proposal. See my column today on http://www.spectator.org for the whole story.

Finally, this guy is a major antisemite. His fake stories which seek to demonize Israel are quoted approvingly by David Irving-a man who denies the Shoah. ( no link provided. I don’t want to give him the traffic).

Note too the cooperation between Sunni terrorists like Hamas and the Shi’a Mullahs of Iran. All the while the Sunni Al Qaeda in Iraq is specifically targeting Shi’a for murder. Normally Sunni are at the Shi’as’ throats, and vice versa. They can submerge their traditional animosity for the greater cause of murdering Jews (and Americans).
