On graciousness
I really don’t feel like being gracious on McCain’s loss. I wasn’t gracious in 2000, when George W. Bush “stole” the election from Al Gore. And even though I came to believe that he didn’t steal it—notably after even the … Continue reading
The next step in politics
Hillbuzz: If we came together as Democrats and Republicans in 2008, why can’t we remain cooperative in 2009 and all years going forward? All of us are willing — will you join us? We won’t agree on everything, but if … Continue reading
Oh, well.
I thought Virginia would pull it out. But the blue counties in NorVA were too much to overcome. Looks like Obama is going to be the nation’s most inexperienced president ever. And I promise to give him just as much … Continue reading
Going to work now
I actually have work to do tonight. Going to do that and tune back in later. Florida is tightening, but not looking good for McCain. Pennsylvania isn’t looking good, but there’s only a small fraction of the vote in. Virginia … Continue reading
Watching the numbers
I’ve been watching the Virginia numbers since the polls closed. And I’m not just watching them. I have a list of the 2004 county and city election results up on a tab and am referring back to it as results … Continue reading
Popular vote
Interesting. Right now at 8:48 PM, McCain actually leads the popular vote 50 – 49. Still, I’d like to see some more states for McCain. Michael Barone wrote out the optimistic scenarios for each candidate. With Pennsylvania apparently gone (even … Continue reading

Pennsylvania called
Not good. Update by Meryl: I’m not going by calls until I see some actual vote results. Pennsylvania is still in play, as far as I’m concerned.
Virginia trending red… I’m not surprised
I’m going to do my “I was right” dance about Virginia. As of this moment, with 30% of precincts reporting, McCain is up by 118,000 votes. Fairfax hasn’t reported in yet. That’s a big one, with about half a million … Continue reading
More proof that McCain can win it
Treacher was right. Via Marc Ambinder: A New York City-based Obama home phonebanker who’s been making calls through the MyBO.com hub to PA and VA says he just received this e-mail: Friends — Barack needs your help now — our … Continue reading
McCain campaign online phone bank
Make calls for the McCain campaign. It’s not over yet. Click here. Did you vote yet? Less than two hours left in VA. Get yourselves to the polls, please.
Reasons for Virginia to stay red
How important is this statistic for a red victory? Hampton Roads: The region’s hefty black vote is keeping Obama competitive there. So, too, is a narrow slice of the region’s military vote — for example, families angry over multiple deployments … Continue reading
Five more hours to vote McCain
So go do it. And whatever you do, DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE EXIT POLLS. They were wrong in 2004. They won’t be any better now.
Virginia voting report
I voted at 11:30. I was voter number 1590 in a precinct with about 3,000 registered voters. In a heavily Republican county, that bodes ill for Obama. Vote. Vote. VOTE.

If you’re thinking of voting for Obama…
Name a single major accomplishment of his that does not include running for office. Just one. What laws has he helped pass? Who has he helped? What, exactly, has he done? While he was “writing a letter” about Fannie Mae … Continue reading
PUMAs for McCain
This is why Hillbuzz is working for McCain: We truly believe if all of us continue to work as hard as possible tonight and tomorrow in get-out-the-vote efforts, and if we control the Eeyores in our midst and prevent the … Continue reading
