The dual loyalty canard strikes again

The Obama administration is accusing U.S. Jews of being puppets of the Israeli government. Where have we heard that before? Oh yeah, that’s right. Only in every dual loyalty charge, ever.

A US official close to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry said both men are disturbed over what is being perceived in their inner circle as “Jewish activism in Congress” that they think is being encouraged by the Israeli government, Israel Radio reported on Thursday.

The official has informed Israeli government figures that the president and secretary of state are disappointed over repeated attacks made against them by leading members of the Jewish community in the US.

And what are these “attacks”? Why, American Jewish leaders telling Obama that he’s wrong on Iran, and that he’s wrong to push for Palestinian statehood at the expense of the more pressing issues, like, say, industrial-scale murders in Syria.

Let’s just call this what it is: Slamming Jews with the dual loyalty canard because they’re not marching in lockstep with the Obama Administration’s take on Middle East peace and Iran.

According to Israel Radio, Israeli diplomats and foreign officers have warned against this trend. According to officials based in foreign missions, the Israeli government is increasingly being viewed as fanning the flames among American Jews by encouraging them to promote the official government position while making no room for opposing viewpoints.

Yes, there it is. Jews are not allowed to have opinions of their own if they diverge from what The One has declared they must be. You must agree with Obama and Kerry on Iran. You must agree with Obama and Kerry on the Palestinians. If you don’t, you are obviously being manipulated by Israel. Because God forbid Jews have minds of their own. The saying “Two Jews, three opinions?” Forget about it, it doesn’t count when it comes to denying The One what he wants.

Let’s not forget that more than 80% of America’s Jews voted for Obama. Twice. Not that it makes a difference to these assholes. Really, dual loyalty charges? Really?

Screw you, Kerry. And screw you, Obama.

This is why I like the new Pope

He invited a dozen Argentinian rabbis, and made sure they had a nice selection of kosher food. The kashered a Vatican kitchen specifically for the rabbis.

For just one day, the kitchen of the Vatican hotel where Pope Francis lives went kosher.

Rabbi Jaakov Spizzichino oversaw the scrupulous cleaning of countertops, the boiling of utensils and the heating of the oven to render it fit for cooking under Jewish dietary laws.

The occasion? A four-course lunch Francis hosted for a dozen Argentine rabbis last week. It was another sign of his close friendship with Jews, despite some complaints in Israel that he’s giving the Jewish state short-shrift on his upcoming trip to the Holy Land.

Good guy Pope Francis.

The 99 cent book sale

I put the Kindle version of Darkness Rising: Book One of the Catmage Chronicles on sale for 99 cents today and tomorrow. Tell a friend. Heck, buy it as a gift for a friend with a Kindle.

Look at it this way: The sooner I can start supporting myself with my writing for a living, the sooner I can get back to updating this blog throughout the day. Ah, the good old days when I posted three to five posts per day–even without Soccer Dad.

For those of who who have been wondering when book two comes out, I’m holding steady on that March publication date. I’m nearly finished with it.

Wednesday news briefs

Why the left hates Jews: Read this in its entirety; it’s a history of how the so-called democratic left managed to keep Jew hatred as its mainstay throughout the last two centuries. And why the quenelle is but the latest symbol of Jew-hatred not a so-called “anti-establishment” neo-Nazi salute.

Palestinian terrorists gunning for Israel and America: The Shin Bet caught three terrorists–including an Arab-Israeli from East Jerusalem–plotting with al Qaeda to attack the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv. The other two Palestinians were from the West Bank. Al Qaeda is ramping up its presence in the Palestinian terrortories[sic]. But sure, push that peace plan forward, Mr. President. And don’t forget, it’s Israeli settlements that are the issue–not Palestinian rejectionism.

Rockets and bombs and silence: It’s amazing how attacks from Gaza are almost literally ignored by most of the world, who then go on to press Israel to make peace with the Palestinians. John Kerry talks about a Palestinian state, but he never mentions what is going to happen to Gaza. Funny, that. But boy, does he manage to get all bent out of shape when an Israeli minister speaks the truth about his Israel obsession.

Now the news media pays attention: Since Israel struck back and killed two of the terrorists firing rockets, well, it’s news. Trust the Guardian to use a headline that gives zero context, of course. We don’t call it al-Guardian for nothing.

Stephen Harper, friend of Israel

Oh, Canada. We do love many of you. We definitely love Stephen Harper, who gave a superb, pro-Israel speech to the Knesset today. A couple of Arab MKs hated it so much they heckled Harper and then walked out (to a standing O).

Here’s the transcript if you want to read it all.

“To be clear, we have also periodically made terrible mistakes as in the refusal of our government in the 1930s to ease the plight of Jewish refugees but, as a country, at the turning points of history, Canada has consistently chosen, often to our great cost, to stand with others who oppose injustice, and to confront the dark forces of the world.

“It is, thus, a Canadian tradition to stand for what is principled and just, regardless of whether it is convenient or popular.

“But, I would argue, support today for the Jewish state of Israel is more than a moral imperative it is also of strategic importance, also a matter of our own, long-term interests.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I said a moment ago, that the special friendship between Canada and Israel is rooted in shared values.

“Indeed, Israel is the only country in the Middle East, which has long anchored itself in the ideals of freedom, democracy and the rule of law.

My new morning routine

This is what I do every morning now. I throw a ball, Meimei fetches it. Sometimes she gives me the ball. Sometimes she puts it in the tube. Sometimes I get distracted and do something else, and she puts the ball somewhere near my feet. In my slipper, if I’m not wearing it. I adore my new cat. She’s a treasure.

Your web manager tip of the day

You know those “Top xx” lists you see that are clickbait but also something you’d be interested in reading? Like any of Popular Mechanic’s lists? I’m looking at their top 10 carpet cleaning secrets from the pros right now.

Hate clicking “next” nine times or more? Have I got a tip for you!

I use Firefox. You can’t do this with Internet Explorer. But in Firefox, click on View, then choose Page Style/No style. This gives you the page the way it looks in basic CSS. Surprise! The top ten (or top 50 or top 100) lists are all on one page.

I use it only on a tab and then revert or close the tab when I’m finished reading the list. But it sure makes it easier to browse. I hate the new style of web browsing a zillion pages to read one article. I don’t care for the blogs on DC Caller for that reason. I want to read more than one blog post at a time. I hate clicking the “next” button, and it’s a cheap way to get pageviews. Or eyes on your ads.

As for the top ten carpet cleaning tips: Too much work. I just use the pet stain remover on hairballs and other cat leakages. It works fine.

Mideast Media Sampler 01/17/2014

The Ariel Sharon Ignored by the MSM

I never expected Ariel Sharon to be treated fairly by the mainstream media. I’d like to reiterate one point made by Prof. Jacobson in his post memorializing Sharon: Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount was not the cause of the so-called Second Intifada.

The New York Times obituary of Ariel Sharon gets it wrong:

Given how he had crushed the Palestinian guerrilla infrastructure in Gaza in the early 1970s, there was logic to his election. But there was a paradox, too. It was Mr. Sharon’s visit, in September 2000, accompanied by hundreds of Israeli police officers, to the holy site in Jerusalem known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, that helped set off the riots that became the second Palestinian uprising.

Similarly, the Washington Post’s obituary:

Thursday briefs

The elephant in the peace talks room: Somehow, when John Kerry talks about peace, the topic of the terrorists controlling Gaza never seems to come up. It doesn’t seem to matter to Kerry and the EU that a significant portion of the Palestinian state will be run by people whose stated goal is to eliminate Israel. (The rest will be run by people who pretend it isn’t their stated goal.) And they’re firing rockets again. Iron Dome intercepted some, and nobody was hurt. But things are heating up again. Expect the recriminations to come against Israel when the IDF retaliates.

In your quenelle, Doodoone: I’m torn on this one. I no longer believe in any hate speech laws, but I do so love it when an anti-Semitic bastard like France’s Dieudonne is forced by the laws to cancel his latest tour because they found his show to be viciously anti-Semitic. Let’s all give him a rousing middle-finger salute, which I shall call the anti-quenelle.

Paying tribue to a lion: Soldiers continue to pay tribute to Ariel Sharon, saying he won the Yom Kippur War for Israel. Not singlehandedly, but his tactics were instrumental to Israel’s victory.

Yosi Regev, who commanded the first company that crossed the Suez Canal, added that Sharon sat in the fifth tank in line to cross the canal: “It was very impressive to see the general take action. His leadership and his calmness were what brought us to win the battle in 1973.”

He only spoke the truth: The Obama administration is super-pissed at Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, who made the mistake of telling the truth to a reporter that he thought was off the record:

“American Secretary of State John Kerry, who turned up here determined and acting out of misplaced obsession and messianic fervor, cannot teach me anything about the conflict with the Palestinians,” Yaalon said, according to the paper.

He forgot “egotistical”. Kerry wants his Nobel, and he doesn’t care how much he has to screw Israel–and ignore Palestinian rejectionism–to do it. So of course he had to apologize.

You know what you’ll never see? A demand for a Palestinian apology. Or the news media running a thousand stories on how angry Obama is that the Palestinians are doing everything in their power to block peace. Because Israeli Double Standard Time, and you know the rest.

Of course it isn’t: In Canada, the nation that prosecuted Mark Steyn for “insulting Islam”, you can grab a girl by the hair, hold a lighter to her head, say “Let’s burn the Jew” and actually burn her–and a judge will rule that it isn’t anti-Semitism. It was just a typical episode of bullying, you see. “Impulsive teenage action”. Also, Poles can chant “Move on, Jews! Your home is at Auschwitz! Send you to the gas (chamber)!” and the Polish prosecutor sees nothing anti-Semitic about that.

Gee, why is it that we want Israel to remain the lone redoubt for Jews, again? Oh, right. That.

Iran to U.S.: You were played, suckers

The Iranians are laughing at Obama and bragging about how they beat the west. And remember, the man speaking these words is the so-called “moderate” that the media, the Obama administration, and the EU insisted would bring Iran to the negotiating table because he knew it was preferable to war.

“Do you know what the Geneva agreement means? It means the surrender of the big powers before the great Iranian nation,” Hassan Rouhani told a crowd in the oil-rich province of Khuzestan.

“The Geneva agreement means the wall of sanctions has broken. The unfair sanctions were imposed on the revered and peace-loving Iranian nation,” he said. “It means an admission by the world of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.”

Sure, it’s peaceful. That’s why we keep hearing Iranians talk about how they need a nuclear bomb to defeat Israel.

But that’s not the worst of it. There was a secret side deal with details that have yet to be released. What did the Obama administration and the EU agree to? They won’t tell us, because peons.

Key elements of a new nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers are contained in an informal, 30-page text not yet publicly acknowledged by Western officials, Iran’s chief negotiator said Monday.

The State Department denies that there was a secret deal. But why should we believe them? They were holding secret talks with Iran while denying they were holding secret talks with Iran. And of course, this is from the president that said “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” while knowing full well that wasn’t true. Also, Benghazi. And the IRS scandal. This administration has told the American people nothing but lies from the get-go, supported by Democrats like Harry Reid, who accused Mitt Romney of not paying any income taxes with zero evidence.

As for Iran wanting peace with the U.S.? Yeah, because the man who was responsible for the bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon–killing 241 Americans–has just been made Iran’s minister of defense. An Iranian spy was caught trying to get documents on the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter out of the country. This is a man who became a U.S. citizen in 1991. They’re in it for the long haul. And don’t forget, we have Hezbollah terrorists in the U.S. already.

Meantime, the world is lining up to make billion-dollar deals with Iran that won’t be undone overnight if sanctions were to be slapped back on.

Iran played the West. Under the deal, Iran can continue to design and implement advanced centrifuges, which are necessary to create a bomb. The Obama administration made sure that Israel won’t be able to attack Iran to prevent them from getting nuclear weapons. It’s only a matter of time before we hear about Iran testing a bomb. The question then will be what they do next, because unlike North Korea, they are crazy enough to attack another nation. And that nation isn’t just Israel. You don’t need ICBMs to attack Israel, but you do need them to attack the U.S. Or to threaten us.

Great job, Obama. You were played.
