Monday briefs

But there is no anti-Semitism in France: A mob of Muslims armed with hammers and iron bars attacked three Jews in France. But it’s anti-Zionism, not anti-Semitism, because their kippahs identified them as Israelis. Oh. Wait. And by the way, it’s nowhere to be found on the AP. Imagine the headlines if the reverse occurred. Oh, wait. You don’t have to. Watch that story flash around the world while the French attack remains unnoticed save by the Jewish press.

More peaceful rocket attacks from Israel’s peace partner: See title.

Really? No, really? Put this one under “Keen grasp of the obvious”. Israel is rumored to be equipping its submarines with nuclear weapons. Say, how does that MAD work again? Oh, that’s right. You make sure you let the enemy know that if they fire nukes at you, you can return fire and destroy them.

The media bias strikes again: By the way, the headline about the terrorist sneaking into Israel from Gaza and murdering a soldier before being killed himself by return fire? “Clash Kills Palestinian Militant, Israeli Soldier.” Not “Sneak attacker kills soldier, is killed by return fire” or anything like that. The first paragraph sets the story, but the headline does not:

A Palestinian militant sneaked into Israel early Friday, opening fire on Israeli troops and killing one soldier, the military said. The troops fired back, killing the infiltrator in the incident that touched off fresh violence in the volatile border area, which had been mostly quiet since March.

By the way, he was found with explosives on him. But the AP doesn’t care about that. It does want to whitewash the last rocket barrage against Israel, though:

The last round of violence in March took place after Israel killed a militant leader, setting off four days of rocket barrages from Palestinian militants and airstrikes by the Israeli military.

That uptick left at least 24 Palestinians dead and disrupted the lives of about 1 million Israelis living in rocket range

All of the Palestinians killed were terrorists (except possibly one bystander, if I recall correctly). Note how the AP says Israeli’s lives were “disrupted”. Sure. Running to a bomb shelter and trying to make it there in the few seconds you have before the missile hits is a minor disruption. Happens every day, all over the world, to everyone. Oh. Wait.

I love that frequent reference to this or that “round of violence.” No suggesting who shot first or what would happen if side A stopped shooting as opposed to Side B. The “round of violence” is just there, like the khamsin off the desert. No one’s responsible for it.
