Gee, the Muslim Brotherhood says they’ll never recognize Israel and that they want to put the peace treaty with Israel up for a referendum, obviously to get a popular vote to pull out of it. Gee, that sounds familiar. A lot like, say, their offshoot, Hamas, which just uttered those very sentiments about Israel at the anniversary of their founding.
Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood will not recognize Israel under any circumstances and might put the peace treaty with the Jewish state up to a referendum, the movement’s second in command told the Al-Hayat newspaper in an interview that was published Sunday.
Who knew? Not the famous New York Times columnist who had a dinner with one of their spokesliars and declared them moderate.

Recognizing signed treaties that bind a nation in the international scene? Feh! That’s for other people, not the Ikwan.
“We will take the proper legal steps in dealing with the peace deal,” he added. “To me, it isn’t binding at all. The people will express their opinion on the matter.”
Of course it isn’t binding. It was made with infidels, and worse yet, with Jews.
Muslim Brotherhood spokesmen, as well as Palestinian guest speakers, made explicit calls for Jihad and for liberating the whole of Palestine. Time and again, a Koran quote vowing that “one day we shall kill all the Jews” was uttered at the site. Meanwhile, businessmen in the crowd were urged to invest funds in Jerusalem in order to prevent the acquisition of land and homes by Jews.
Throughout the event, Muslim Brotherhood activists chanted: “Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv, judgment day has come.”
The Islamists are allowing safe haven in Egypt for terrorists to launch attacks on Israel. And slowly but surely tightening their grip in Egypt. The secularists have been beaten down to the point where even they admit their nation has been hijacked by the Islamists and the military.
One of the lone voices in the wilderness is Barry Rubin. If you’re not reading his column regularly, you are not informed about the Middle East. The Islamists are winning, and he’s been telling us that for years.
And Iran just produced a nuclear fuel rod. Joy.
