A public service announcement

I’m going to have a much longer and more detailed post, but if you have any older relatives in the care of a psychiatrist that have had dramatic personality changes, they are probably overmedicated.

Right now, I’m hating nearly the entire psychiatric profession. Including the morons at the supposedly excellent geriatric psych center that gave my mother her second round of overmedication. Bravo, people. Great job. How many other elderly patients have you screwed up?

You still looking for a Jersey lawyer? I’m willing to reach out a bit and see if I can get a few names…

  2. Jay, nah. I’m looking to get my mother off her current meds and onto something that doesn’t turn her into a zombie or a crazy woman. Then I plan on writing letters.

If anyone out there can think of a polite way to say “You all suck,” I’d love to hear it. Can’t use “Bless your heart,” because they’re in NJ and they don’t speak Southern.

It doesn’t matter how you say it, as long as you preface it with “with all due respect.”

“With all due respect, you are the most incompetent idiots with your heads so far up your asses, you will never need a professional colonoscopy.”

“With all due respect, I recommend you replace all your medical instruments with rusty chainsaws. You’d still be less likely to totally screw up your patients.”

“With all due respect, you’re a whole bunch of worthless f_ckwits and pointlessly-salvaged bits of afterbirth who need to be flushed down the drain.”

    See?

Younger patients, too. Years ago, a friend of mine was in a psychiatric facility for about a year and was horribly overmedicated.

Did the medicos even bother to do a full metabolic workup to see if your Mom had any underlying conditions? Heavy metal toxicity or absorption disorders can cause mental or behavioral issues. Good luck and lots of prayer for a healthy Mom.

  7. Not a clue. They put my brother down as the only one who could get medical information. I suspect they did the typical stuff, like thyroid, but did not do the things necessary for an 80-year-old woman. Geriatric care in this country sucks, and it’s soon going to see an influx of millions of geriatric baby boomers. I guess the good news for me is that by the time it’s fixed, since I’m on the tail end of the baby boom, I’ll be on the side that has decent geriatric care.
