Hamas withholding Shalit video

The big visit by Moussa Abu Marzouk was, in part, to get a videotape purporting to show Shalit is alive and healthy. And of course, Hamas refuses to release the tape, because they won’t confirm Shalit’s condition without the release of hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli jails.

On his short trip to the Gaza Strip last week, Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal’s deputy, Moussa Abu Marzouk, was given a videotape of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, according to Kuwaiti newspaper al-Jarida. The tape reportedly shows the soldier to be in good health.

[…] According to the report, the tape will not be released unless “significant progress” is made in negotiations with Israel, and Palestinian sources were quoted as saying that “Hamas wants to use the tape as a bargaining chip at the end of negotiations, to prove how serious it is in its desire to wrap up the matter.”

Videotapes can be manipulated, and without much effort these days. Unless and until Gilad Shalit is brought alive out of Gaza, I’m not going to believe anything I read about his condition.

Note the utter silence of the world about the cruel captivity of Gilad Shalit, and the abuse of human rights by Hamas.

Absolutely insane. I’d rather be bombed into non-existence by my own government than stay a captive of these animals. The bombing is way overdue.

I wish Israel would just tell Haniyeh/Zahar/et al.

Release Shalit alive and you may continue breathing.

Alas, it would appear that Israel does not have the capabilities to carry out such a threat.
