Democrats threaten to kneecap Jewish nonprofits

Why is it, exactly, that so many Jews are Democrats? That’s right. Because Democrats are the champions of liberal, social causes. They’re against tyranny and all for liberty, freedom, and especially, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

But heaven help you if you go against what the Democrats want. Like, say, having Sarah Palin appear in the same venue as Hillary Clinton, even if it’s to protest Jew-hater Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Because then, forget about your freedoms of association, speech, and assembly.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

[…] Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.

[…] The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, “it could jeopardize their tax exempt status” if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.

So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.

Got that? Not only would Clinton not appear, but if the groups did not disinvite Palin, Democrats threatened their tax-exempt status. Why? Because they’d sic the IRS on them by calling it a political event. Who was threatened? Well, basically, every major Jewish group in America.

The thing that I hate the most about this? It won’t stop my liberal Jewish friends from voting Democrat in any way. It won’t even make them think twice about the tactics used by the Democrats. And it’s far, far worse than Soccer Dad wrote about the other day. CBS didn’t have the story about Jewish organizations having their tax-exempt status revoked for having Palin speak at the rally.

That’s not a political party pressuring groups to do something. That’s outright break-your-kneecap, Mafia-style blackmail threats.

In fact, those are precisely the kinds of tactics that the Jewish groups will be protesting on Monday. We just never expected them from the Democrats.

Update: Soccerdad has more on the Obama advisor that’s knee-deep in the disinvitation campaign.

I hate to admit it, even to myself, but many Jews are in love with abortion. They don’t consider it as one possible choice–and probably a sad choice–but as a positive good. Everyone should have one.

Palin is a living reproach to this attitude.

  2. Robert says:

Jew, Blacks, Women, Children…it’s like the Stockholm Syndrome.

  3. MaryAnn says:

How could you not expect that from democrats?! Or rather, from leftist liberals who have been running the democrats for years? It’s how they do business. Welcome to the real world, where leftist liberals will control everything according to their ideas of how much freedom- if any- they will allow the rest of us to have.

  4. clarice says:

Assuming the story is true, there was no excuse for such cowardice. The threat was preposterous. Both sides were offered an opportunity to appear and speak. One side backed out.

I suspect that the “threat” worked not because it was credible, but because it suited the political predilections of so many leaders of these organizations–pro Democrat.

  5. Passerby says:

I guess “Never again” is just a fund-raising slogan.

    Good to know.

  6. Most Jews in the US are descendant of those Jews that were allowed into the US by FDR, during World War II. So they see FDR and his party as the great saviors, and that attitude persists to the third and fourth generation, even though the party has become something very very different from FDR’s party.

And yes, I know FDR denied entry to much larger quantities of Jews. But they aren’t living in the US. Either they died unable to escape the Nazis or their children are living in other countries. Either way, their opinions don’t factor into US opinion polls.

  7. Maimonedes says:

Jews need to wake up. This is no longer your father’s Democratic Party. It’s fun to stick one’s tongue out at Republicans for being Christian and nasty warmongers, but guess which party’s core believes that Israel is the real problem? Guess which party wants to concede ground to Islamo-fascism? Guess which party will stand by while whichever Muslim knucklehead drops a dirty bomb in Tel Aviv?

If Israel falls, Jews everywhere will be in danger, and not from Christians. When the hammer falls, Jews in the US will be in danger as well, and the MoveOn and Daily Kossacks won’t help. The Jews among them will be forced to choose between being a kapo or a victim. Don’t kid yourselves, foolish Jews. Anyone who thinks it’s more important for Hillary Clinton to appear at a rally against Ahmadimjihadi than an actual candidate for Vice President of the US is no friend of Jews. Wake up.

  8. Bob says:

Truth in advertising ought to require them to rename the party. My recommendation is “Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei”.

  9. capitano says:

Taranto pointed to the comments at this post to suggest that this will probably backfire on the Democrats.

  10. Jonathan says:

The Democrats are making it clear how they rank threats to our way of life.

    1: Sarah Palin
2: Homocidal maniacs that support terrorists, threaten our allies, and work against our military in Iraq.

The Democratic party is morally bankrupt.

  11. Good Lt says:

    >We just never expected them from the Democrats.

    You didn’t?

Have you been watching the O!bots in action lately?

    ;-)

  12. Ben says:

I’m a Jewish guy living in the south. Almost all my relatives and most of my friends have left the Democratic Party far behind. Not that we’re all solidly conservative, either. I know a number of Jewish guys that are hardcore for Bob Barr, even though they know he doesn’t have any chance to win.

  13. Evan Sayet says:

The difference between the Jew who votes Democrat and those who vote Republican is that the Republican says “Never Again.” The Democrat Jew says “well…maybe just one more time.”

  14. Damiano says:

    Okay folks… this is war.

The MSM lack of coverage, investigations and outright bias has gone on long enough. We’ve joked about it and blogged about it for months and years on end. Most of us have sent off some emails to the networks, offending individuals and relevant advertisers.. all to no effect.

Here’s the problem. We’ve been playing by the rules while the other side has been doing everything possible to get around the rules and play their own, unencumbered game. This is the Red Coats vs. Guerrilla Warfare and we’ve been the Red Coats. While we march in a disciplined, orderly fashion according to the standard rules of civilized warfare, the other side is hiding in bushes ambushing us.

It’s time to change the battle plan.

Make no mistake- Obama is inciting riots on his side. He’s been using every dirty Chitown trick in the book and he’s just getting warmed up.

Here’s the first step, use his own tactics against him- if there is an Obama rally in your vicinity, GO AND GET IN HIS FACE. This group did it to great effect and The One lost control and began to melt down.

Folks, we were taught by Gandhi, MLK and the Dali Lama what the power of organized and insistent peaceful resistance and peaceful civil disobedience can be. We’ve got to take these proven methods PEACEFULLY, FORCEFULLY and CONSISTENTLY into every hall Obama shows up at, every live broadcast we can find and to every organization that is propping up this naked emperor.

Honor the our Country, our Forefathers and the Founders of this Land. Honor John McCain and the others like him who fought, were tortured and often died to protect our inalienable rights.

America is under assault again, but this time it’s from someone who we’ve up until now treated as one of our own. Well, he has show consistently that he has no desire to honor and protect the greatness of this country- he wants a new world order that will honor his own narcissistic greatness.

I leave you with the words of and request of on of the greatest men to every serve our country:

I’m going to fight for my cause every day as your President. I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I’m an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach. Fight with me. Fight with me.

Fight for what’s right for our country.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

    Fight for our children’s future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.

  15. Darleen says:

This is just more of Obama’s “in your face” politicking. It really IS about The One’s ambition before anything else.

  16. Jason says:

You know what they say, Jews live like Episcopalians yet vote like Puerto Ricans. Folks most Jews don’t give a damn it is sad to say. But I do think McCain is going to get the highest % of Jewish votes since Reagan in 1980.

  17. Krystal says:

In NYC – the Dems and the Jews have a strong relationship due to a lot of deals going back and forth in the background that most non-Jews are not aware of – they get special treatment via the city gov’t as to security, housing, special money grants if they support Bloomberg’s handpicked candidates. They were able to get many Russian Jews into Brooklyn with free housing, food stamps etc. Lots of shady stuff. Maybe that is why they succumbed to the pressure – if you are on the take so much, you dont want that spigot to turn off. Just wait till the Arab population in NY gets wealthier and more numerous – let’s see if the Dems throw the Jews under the bus.

  18. Fred says:

These aren’t the Jews that I know. Let’s not use too broad a brush.

  19. Fred, it isn’t Jews pressuring Jews to disinvite Palin.

    It’s Democrats.

  20. Republicrat says:

The rally planners clearly wanted to provide a platform for the Republican Party. The whole idea was to give Sarah Palin a national platform by setting up a video contest with Hillary Clinton

It was clever media manipulation, but Clinton and the Democrats shortstopped it. They rally planners had wanted to become the equivalent of a 527 group, but a tax-exempt one. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too, and they thought they’d be able to spring a trap on Clinton through the use of deceit.

It didn’t work. Say what you will about Hillary Clinton, but she didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday. The chess match continues. It is unseemly to whine after you lose a game.

  21. Dennis says:

As far as I’m concerned I’m getting a little bored with the whole idea of protesting the dipstick from Iran and had sort of looked forward to a little spice being added by the participation of Gov Palin and even Hillary.
Now it’s nothing but another meaningless Political protest taking advantage of other people’s heartfelt committments…. that should be kept as far away from the UN as the Riot Police can manage. Nobody in the UN gives a tinker’s damn what “Ah’m a bad jihad” says and stands for, or what the protestors think about it. Let them go to Israel to support Israel and stop trying to get the US to do it for them.

  22. Joe says:

As a Jew, I’m ashamed of the way Governor Palin was treated. As to why most Jews vote for Democrats, it’s either stupidity, masochism, or another mental disease that I haven’t yet heard about.

  23. 30yrdem-not any more says:

The following statement is from Morton A. Klein, national president of the Zionist Organization of America.
    http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2008/09/zoa-admits-democrats-forced-un-inviting.html

“Under tremendous pressure from Jewish Democrats and liberal Jewish groups, Palin’s invitation was withdrawn with a decision made not to include any politicians. Why are we excluding political leaders who have the real power to act on this critical issue? The ZOA believes this was a serious mistake.

    [snip]

This wrong-headed action of cancelling the appearance of major political leaders hurt Israel and the United States. Ahmadinejad must be delighted that those who oppose his policies are so divided they can’t even stand on the same stage to condemn him.

    [snip]

The Israel Project has removed its support for the Rally which disinvited Palin. The only rally in NY they are participating in is the one on the 25th

  24. Dennis D says:

A few weeks ago Joe Biden threw Israel under a Bus saying they will just have to deal with Iran being a Nuclear Nation. Can you spell Holocaust?>

  25. Alan Furman says:

Once again, alas, the Jewish community behaves like the battered spouse of the Left.

  26. joe says:

    Hillary is a hostile wimp.

  27. Moptop says:

IRS? Why not, the Democrats have become the “any weapon at hand” party.

While I can understand Hillary may have had good reasons not to attend. Biden had no such reason not to show a united front against Iran. As it is, we have just shown weakness as a nation that will surely invite more aggressive action on Iran’s part.

  28. Dan Davis says:

You Jews just don’t get it, to the Republican it was not about your Jewish problems, it was about confronting Hillary Clinton, with Sarsh Palin. The Republican where just going to use you, Jew’s as a stepping stone. Look like they did.
    Dan Davis

  29. in_awe says:

So, what are we to think when the Democrats use the black churches across this country as rallying points and campaign stops?

Is it racist to threaten the churches with loss of their tax exempt status unless McCain or Palin is also invited to speak at every Obama/Biden church rally?

Beware Obama, what goes around, comes around.

  30. brian levine says:

I went back and forth on this, mainly because I don’t like the, “if she’s coming, I’m not” approach of the Democrats.

On the other hand, Palin is a bit of a lightweight and many people, myself included, view her as a fundamentally unserious person about foreign affairs.

My opinion of her may change if she exposes herself to the national press or after she is on the national scene for a few years.

That she is “McCain’s choice”, simply is not enough reason to take her seriously. Biden and Clinton reflect this. Had they invited Condi Rice, I suspect Biden and Clinton would have participated.

  31. jon says:

Obama will make sure and do nothing, because he is just a loud mouth who has done nothing. It is sad the Jews don’t realize who their friends really are. It is not men like Obama, he had another mentor who was a communist. Yes a communist, also Fahrakan a jew hater, and the great Mr. Wright. The jews better find a way to build up there military might because they will be on there own against the Iranians. The US economy will stop us from any more handouts..JON

  32. Hennry Dill says:

Wow, Now I understand how a vowed democrat like me has turned to a voed republican. It’s called SURVIVAl.
I will be dead not following the Sharia
    Laws.

  33. Old gray mare says:

I am perpetually confused, and have been for many years, as to why the Jewish population continues to support the party of “dependence on gov’t is good,” and worse yet, the party that continually panders to those countries that wish to at the least, do harm to Israel, and at the worst, destroy their homeland.

Your comments have been excellent and insiteful…Thank you.

  34. bc says:

Comment 30 is a perfect example of Axelrod’s strategy of posting through sock puppets. Opening paragraph;”I’m one of you”, second paragraph;”Being one of you, I don’t think much of Sarah Palin. Did I mention I’m one of you? Closing paragraph,”Maybe after you lose,I mean We lose the election, Sarah will grow up to be ready for prime time.”

  35. CKA in Red State USA says:

I’m with bc re: comment #30.

Calling Sarah Palin “unserious” is like calling Barack Obama “experienced.”

Also an example of the intolerance the so-called tolerant fascists — sorry, I meant the Demockacrats, liberals and leftists — exemplify.

  36. john decker says:

i try to follow very closely and visit many web sites to try to ferret out the truth on important matters.
i freely admit to being a ardently conservative constitutionalist republican who favor the veinna school of economics.
i understand as to why blacks will vote for obama even if he promised to sell their children into slavery.
i can not understand why the people of the jewish faith in america are willing to condemn the people of isreal to death, by supporting always the democrats, who use your money and votes as they do the gays/ lesbian and other minorities should also clearly see, up to election day.
then you are just so much rubish to be ignored.
surprisingly the party that would more suit your mind set,as i know it, the republican, are denounced and distrusted.
    why?
NO republican president would ever abandon isreal. No democrat would ever be willing to defend isreal.
i would welcome open honest dialog.

  37. Dave P. says:

A fast question for Brian Levine. If he really IS “one of us”, he’ll be able to answer.

If Sarah Palin is “unserious” as a vice-presidential candidate, what does that say about Barack Obama as a candidate to fill the Big Chair?

If her “unserious”-ness is gounds to NOT vote for her ticket (even though the guy at the TOP of that ticket, John McCain- no matter what you think of him- is about as “serious” as it’s possible to get)– brian, than isn’t “unseriousness” pretty convincing grounds to vote AGAINST Obama?

  38. MarkJ says:

This story reminds me of German Jewish World War I veterans who displayed their service medals and loudly proclaimed their loyalty to Fuehrer and Fatherland…even as they were herded into concentration camps.

  39. You know, I’m no friend to the Democrats any more, but I really don’t think they’re anywhere close to the Nazis.

    Those would be the Buchananites.

  40. Republicrat says:

While it is unfortunate in some respects for this to have happened, I think it all worked out for the best in the end. Sarah Palin is an embarrassment in general, and her affiliation with “Jews for Jesus” ought to disqualify her from inclusion in Jewish events.

Don’t trivialize Jewish organizations by inviting such people. There are others who can be invited. Moreover, the attempt to “sandbag” Hillary Clinton was petty and dishonest, and brings discredit.

The whining about all of this is even worse. It would a better idea to drop the whole thing and let it be forgotten.

  41. Rich says:

brian levine Says: ” On the other hand, Palin is a bit of a lightweight and many people, myself included, view her as a fundamentally unserious person about foreign affairs.”

You have succeeded in insuring that this protest is a non-event (page 32 if at all. If your goal was to slap the repubs, you win. If you wanted to call attend to the Iranian nutcase, you’re a loser.

    What was your goal?

  42. Edmund M. says:

    “Those would be the Buchananites.”

Meryl, the Buchananites are now allies of the Democrats on such matters as the continuing existence of Israel (which they can’t stand), and fighting against the “neoconservative” boogeymen (the new codeword for ‘jew’).

  43. Her affiliation with “Jews for Jesus” is that she was possibly in church the day a J4J spoke at the invitation of her pastor.

If Palin was in the tank for J4Js, I’d still vote for McCain, but I’d be extremely unhappy about it. And I wouldn’t be praising her. At all.

  44. John Blake says:

By all means, keep your rallies civil and bipartisan for tax purposes, while Ahmadinejad’s scimitar hacks your head off. If IRS approval is your criterion for massing against vicious Muslim jihadists, you’re in more trouble than you know.

  45. New York Jews are over the barrel from leftists. It’s like Custer at the Little Big Horn. Jews are surrounded by violent ghettoes of Democratic Party voters, so they go along to get along.

Democrats really are becoming the thug party. Or have they ever been anything else? Hard to remember when.

  46. NoCuster says:

Does anyone have any idea about what Obama, as president, would discuss with Ahmadinejad? And how do you see Ahmadinejad replying? Just curious.

  47. Mongo says:

This has been a fascinating thread, especially as a Christian and Republican conservative. My reading of the Old Testament has God telling Abraham that God will “bless those that bless [Abraham and his descendants] and curse those that curse him”. How all of you have survived ghetto and pogrom and abuse (some of it, embarrassingly, from my those of my faith)is nothing short of supernatural. And now, once again, people are all too ready to blame you for every problem, and those on the left are leading the charge. Israel is our friend, our ally, and must remain free. Those on the left will sell Her out in a second.

  48. DaMav says:

Sarah Palin is in no way an “embarassment” to anyone but her political enemies. She is one of the most popular politicians in the country right now, and could no doubt have brought attention and energy to the rally against Iranian aggression. Palin in numerous polls is more popular than Biden, who apparently wasn’t interested in attending.

Palin was photographed many months ago with a small flag of Israel in her office. She is a true supporter of America and our friend Israel, and Obama managed to have her slapped across the face for showing it. Fortunately most Palin supporters will realize this is another attempt by Obama to protect his friends in Iran at all costs.

  49. Bob says:

    Meryl–
Re: Your comment (#39) — “… I really don’t think they’re anywhere close to the Nazis.” You inadvertently left off the word “yet”.

Re: Your comment (#43) — Please don’t consider us Christians (who take the great commission seriously) your enemy. Not only is it possible to love both Y’shuah Hamachiach and the people of Israel, anyone who claims to love him (but who hates his people) is a liar. It’s not my job to make Jews accept their Messiah, but it is my duty (regardless of how you hate to hear it) to tell you that you have. Prov 27:6 — “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are importunate.”

  50. Republicrat says:

I think Palin’s minister makes Obama’s Rev. Wright look like Mister Rogers. These people want to ban books. They have quite a bunch of guests in there. Not only Jews for Jesus but in June, Mrs. Palin was blessed by a visiting African minister who’s famous for driving witches out of his home town.

I am sorry, but I do not trust the woman and I do not think she should be headlined by conservative Jewish organizations simply because she is Republican. I think the organizations who planned this rally stepped over the line.

I also think it is worthwhile for Jews to be represented in both political parties. I don’t think it is healthy for Jews to be identified as entirely Democratic. But we need to draw some lines, and I draw the line at Sarah Palin. I can’t vote for a ticket with her on it.

It is too bad McCain didn’t pick someone else, because he probably would have gotten my vote. But not her. She makes Dan Quayle look like Winston Churchill!
