Caturday Morning Post

I was watching TV a few minutes ago, and I kept hearing a noise like something was boiling. But I wasn’t cooking anything, and it wasn’t coming from outside. I had no clue what the noise was, but it didn’t stop. So I got up and checked. And found this:

Tig on the laptop

Sigh.

  1. Pretty soon, you’re going to need a bigger laptop.

  2. And that’s already a 17-inch screen.

Right now, he’s tempting fate by bothering Gracie while she’s eating.

    Smart, he isn’t.

  3. Dave Katz says:

What is it about cats that they love to sit on computer keyboards?

  4. Rahel says:

Tig: “Why do you need to look at that boring thing? I’m much more interesting. Not to mention handsome.”

  5. John M. says:

    It’s cause their warm.

  6. Give him another couple of weeks and he’ll be posting to this blog. Heck, my cat has already figured out:
    1) how to turn on the TV with the remote control, then change the channel — to Animal Planet (honest!),
    2) how to turn on my portable CD player, then lie there on the bed next to the headphones contentedly listening to the Claremont Trio performing Mendelssohn’s Trio #1 in D Minor, and
    3) how to get the synthesized female prompting voice in my answering machine to start talking suddenly while I was in the kitchen kneading a batch of sourdough bread.

Surely, Tig can outdo him, especially since mine hasn’t (as of yet, anyway) managed to master the computer.

    Dumb animals, my foot!

  7. Joseph T Major says:

Our cat C’Mell used to get on the keyboard of Lisa’s desktop. For various reasons, Lisa switched to the laptop. Sure enough, so did C’Mell.

But her fur is so soft and she has the sweetest little purr.

  8. Our cat C’Mell…

    ??

Where is the which of the what-she-did?

  9. Michael Lonie says:

I see we have another Cordwainer Smith fan here. Good on ye Joseph. Up Norstrilia! Now for a dog named D’Joan.

  10. Elisson says:

I was gonna make a comment about the incredible cuteness of Tig, but now I’m marveling at the Cordwainer Smith thread cooking here. Jeez!

  11. I had a cat named C’mell, too. She was the most beautiful cat I ever had, and a one-woman cat. She only paid attention to other people when I wasn’t around.

I never forget “The Crime and Glory of Commander Suzdal” whenever I read on a thread some moron saying that men would be better off without women. Cordwainer Smith was brilliant.

  12. Cats love keyboards because they see your hands there all the time. They think “if that’s where her hands are, then if I go there, they’ll be petting me instead.”

I’m jealous. If I tried a stunt like that, I’d get slapped. Even when I was younger and better looking.

  13. Michael Lonie says:

Men better off without women? That is a moronic idea. I’m always struck by the idea that social life in Muslim countries where women are sequestered or bagged up must be horribly boring. Imagine going to coffee shops and restaurants and malls and not seeing any women, or seeing only a moving black sack. Ugh.

  14. Mog says:

You are brave, I never let the kitties near my laptop. Cat hair in the keyboard would be a challenge to get out. Sides, can’t type with a cat there. He does look adorable thou.

  15. I didn’t LET him near it. And now I can’t keep him off it.

    But I will.
