Happy New Year

A happy and a healthy new year to all my readers.

I am rejoicing in the fact that I found no need to drink myself silly last night. I was up at 9 a.m. this morning (and a late morning that is for me!), completely hangover-free.

There’s something to be said for middle age.

(Ow. It hurt me to type those words.)

I also have some happy news: Tig has regained more than half a pound, and spent several hours yesterday sleeping in my lap. And he once again purrs when I ask him if he wants a “snug” (that’s when I pick him up and hold him for a minute or two while he purrs; it’s a snuggle and a hug), and he purrs when I pick him up. He wasn’t purring much at all the last week. He was also outside most of the day yesterday after we got back from the vet. They gave him another dose of subcutaneous IV fluids, which help wash some toxins out of his kidneys.

He is obviously feeling better. Plus, we have finished with his course of antibiotics. Phew. No more pills.

I’m off to the movies today with Heidi and Sorena. Juno movie review to follow.

Happy New Year, skritches all around for your two kitties. Glad Tig is doing better.

And hey, middle age is better than old age.

  6. Jeffrey Nihart says:

    Happy New Year!

And just for another thing to celebrate, Dr. David Whitehouse, the British astronomer and former science editor of the BBC, tells us:

“The fact is that the global temperature of 2007 is statistically the same as 2006 and every year since 2001”

    “Global Warming” stopped?

    Surely not.

    What heresy is this?

Haven’t we been told that the science of global warming is settled beyond doubt and that all that’s left to the so-called skeptics is the odd errant glacier that refuses to melt?

Aren’t we told that if we don’t act now rising temperatures will render most of the surface of the Earth uninhabitable within our lifetimes?

But as we digest these apocalyptic comments, read the recent IPCC’s Synthesis report that says climate change could become irreversible.

Witness the drama at Bali as news emerges that something is not quite right in the global warming camp.

With only few days to back check temps remaining in 2007, the indications are the global temperature for this year is the same as that for 2006.
IE: there has been no warming over the 12 months!

But is this just a blip in the ever upward trend you may ask?

    No.

The fact is that the global temperature of 2007 is statistically the same as 2006 as well as every year since 2001.

Global warming has, temporarily or permanently, ceased.

Temperatures across the world are not increasing as they should according to the fundamental theory behind global warming.
    IE: the greenhouse effect.

Whatever warming trend was going on has flattened out in the last seven years. Which is an odd thing, because China and India have been pumping out more CO2 from cars and industry.

A bunch of ugly facts are nailing the biggest scare story in history.

    We’re safe! Let’s celebrate!

    But just in case:

SOMEONE PLEASE THROW AL GORE INTO A VOLCANO!

  7. Gliker, good to know. But you do realize that worrying is in my genes. Right from the beginning, we have the example of the archetypal Jewish mother, Sarah, who worried that she’d never have a child. Of course, when she finally had Isaac, she then worried herself crazy about how he’d grow up, who he’d marry, what kind of job he’d get, whether or not he’d get into Princeton, become a doctor or a lawyer, get a nice house….

  8. Harrison says:

Really glad to hear Tig is doing better. Happy New Year. And remember, 50 is the new 39… (AHM’s been sayin’ that for years!)
