Stupid Internet Explorer and comments

Internet Explorer, for reasons I cannot understand, is causing comments to be posted twice. There is no such problem with Firefox.

I’m going to take a wild guess and say I need to update my WP and/or my comments plugin.

With Firefox I was getting a blank page after posting a comment…we’ll see if it happens again…

    Yup…

  3. Ditto. Tonight, when I tried to post, I’d get an error from the network. Then I’d retry and get a blank page. Another retry would generate the “you already posted that” error. Going back to the original article would show the page.

This is with Safari on an iBook running Mac OS 10.4.10.

Or you could simply consider IE an evil entity, that’s what I do.

If what you do works in Firefox but doesn’t in IE, the problem isn’t yours, but IEs.

Remember – friends don’t let friends use Microsoft – either the OS or any of its broken products. :)

Hang hang in in there there!! LOL LOL :-) :-)

A car dealer here uses the motto

“Friends don’t let friends drive junk”

That applies to Micro$oft as well. However, it appears that something is wrong with your ack procedures since it causes a blank page in FireFox and a resend in Internet Exploder.

I will have to wait to get home to try it in Opera or SeaMonkey

This is a test of the old Netscape 7.02 just to give you another data point.

    The old Netscape 7.02 shows

    “Connecting to yourish.com
    Sending request to yourish.com
    Connecting to Yourish.com
    Sending to Yourish.com
    Connecting to Yourish.com
    Sending to Yourish.com

Until the “you already posted that” error pops up. It appears that whatever is wrong keeps the browser retrying until the error message gets back. Firefox is probably intelligent enough to detect something right away.

Sorry about all the duplicate comments from the old Netscape.
