The X factor of the Iranian letter

These lines fairly leaped out at me when I skimmed the letter yesterday, and I’m not feeling any more sanguine about them today.

Today, there are hundreds of millions of Christians, hundreds of millions of Moslems and millions of people who follow the teachings of Moses.

I cannot tell you how much this disturbs me. Why didn’t Ahmadinejad use the phrase “millions of Jews”? It is without question what he meant.

He had no problem using the word “Jew” in reference to the Holocaust (which he of course denies), and again in references to Israel. But he cannot bring himself to use the word “Jew” when referring to the population of the world “who follow the teachings of Moses.”

Why not? Why didn’t he call us Jews?

I don’t like the direction my thoughts are going on this one.

  1. I think he meant Moses Malone.

    Man, could he dunk!

What about the millions of followers of Daryl Dawkins? Talk about big men dunking, nobody could rock the rim like Chocolate Thunder and Ahmadinejad couldn’t even mention his name nor acknowledge his millions of followers. It boggles the mind.

Ahmedinajad would have to admit that Jews are human beings. Hence, he will not refer to them by name in any positive context.

I think I got what you’re thinking though: But he cannot bring himself to use the word “Jew” when referring to the population of the world “who follow the teachings of Moses.” I guess he couldn’t admit that his Moooseleeems and the Jooooos follow the teachings from one man.

Though, chsw has a point. It may be even difficult for Ahmadinejad to admit that Jews are people too, which would make it just plain sad.

Well, it’s kind of hard to admit that Jews are “people” when you’re bent on murdering all of them.
