Thoughts on a boring day at work

There is no water in my building today. Something about a water main break, it’ll be fixed sometime after five p.m., go to another building if you want water, coffee, or need to use a bathroom. There was a rumor that they’d send us home, but I’m thinking not. Too bad. I wouldn’t mind leaving early.

Of course, the moment you see the sign that says none of the bathrooms are available, you suddenly have the urge. Human nature. Annoying.

I successfully talked Sorena out of making me see Aeon Flux with her on Sunday. Two turkeys (see: King Bomb) on one holiday weekend were really too much. I pointed out to her that the film was unavailable for review prior to its release, which is only done when it’s a surefire bomb, and her father backed me up. So, after all that work, I checked the moving listings, and Aeon Flux wasn’t playing anywhere. At all. The Commonwealth 20 was closed, and the Towne Center was on holiday staff, so it was playing only half its films.

Which is why she and I went to see Narnia instead.

Y’know, I probably could have gotten away with, “Sorry, kiddo, it’s not playing anywhere near. Let’s go see Narnia, okay?”

Tig the Goofball: I cannot wait to get home and start working on the picture of Tig I got this morning. Y’know, this morning was a pretty funny morning all around, starting with the last dream I had before waking. You know how sometimes, something strikes you as so funny that you laugh so hard you can’t tell anyone what’s making you laugh so hard because you’re unable to do anything but laugh? Well, I had a dream I was doing exactly that shortly before waking. So I woke up in a damned good mood considering I had to go to work this morning.

Anyway. Yesterday, the bulb in the upstairs hallway light burned out. I took off the globe, replaced the bulb, and had a lot of trouble putting the globe back on. Suffice to say that I finally said, “Screw it!”, left the globe on a folding chair underneath the lamp, and the bulb hanging from the fixture. It needs to be put back in either by me or Maintenance Guy, whoever gets to it first, and right now, my money is on Maintenance Guy. The chair is in the corner on top of the stairs where Tig likes to sleep. I was wondering if he’d try to work his way around it, but he did me one better: I got up to the third step and saw him sitting, perfectly centered, underneath the folding chair, on which there is the white globe of the lamp.

I will be putting the picture under the “more” prompt with a spit-monitor warning, because it is quite a funny shot. And Tig, ever the goofball, stayed put while I got the camera, and posed as I snapped away.

I should be leaving work early. I’ll have the post up before dinner.

FWIW, Aeon Flux didn’t suck, but it wasn’t all that great either. Decent action, lots of wooden acting. They shot themselves in the foot by not advance-screening it.
