Pre-Katrina gas prices, at long last

I have been waiting weeks to write this post.

I filled up today for $2.49 at the Crown, then drove past the Wawa and saw the price had dropped to $2.45. The morning after Katrina hit, I filled my tank for $2.45 a gallon.

We are finally back to the gas prices we were paying before the effects of Katrina were hit. (The price went up later that day and the next day. And the next day, and the next day, and the next day.)

If this trend continues, we might even be back where we were before the futures market went apeshit.

You want to lower gas prices? Stop the markets from betting on the price of oil. Bet that would take the bottom out of the market in one fell swoop.
