Having listened to 70s music for the past twenty minutes, it astonishes me that the cowbell ever went out of fashion.
We should hope for a comeback.

Hmmm… Not remembering the cowbell from my ‘tween years. I do remember going to sleep listening to “Mystery Theater” and the Carpenters on my AM radio.

All you need to do is listen to the intro to “Honky Tonk Women” over and over again …

But it is back! Sort off…
Ask Kate Moss.

For a while Target had an anthology “More Cowbell” (based on the SNL BOC skit) with 17 such songs. Alas it’s no longer on sale.
(May I say that I couldn’t always identify the cowbell. I can’t even hear it in “Don’t fear the reaper.” It’s certainly not the most distinctive sound in “Reaper.”)

And it’s in Mississippi Queen by Mountain, too. Sixties.
It was a pervasive little sound, wasn’t it?
I say we start an internet petition. Those always do loads of good.

Being 10 years older than Meryl, I’m going to petition for the mid-60’s Hammond organ.

Oh mannnnn…..
Nothing like the FULL version of Iron Butterfly’s hit song to just make me want to play again..

This is the album I was referring to. And yes it has Mississippi Queen. It also has Dr. Love, and the main reason I got it Radar Love. And would you believe that the lead guitarist of BOC reads Powerline?
