Carnival of the Cats #138

The Carnival of the Cats is back at This Blog Is Full Of Crap this week because the host who was scheduled to do it apparently had better things to do.

It is a lame BlogCarnival-driven template of the links. I beg your forgiveness, but I was in a bit of a rush.

But before you get all mad and angry over it, why not enjoy this week’s Catmodel:

Why, it’s Buddy of iPets Blog.

See? Feeling better now?

Folks who want a shot at being a Catmodel of the Week need to be a part of the banner at Carnival of the Cats. Just send me a 4 by 3 photo of your cat and your weblog link and I’ll add your cat to the banner.

Who knows… you may just see them here as a Catmodel of the Week!

Haveil Havalim #93 is up at Soccer Dad.

Read Kofi Annan’s love letter to the dearly departed Arafat.

Check out the latest distortions about Beit Hanoun.

And read news related to Kristallnacht.

And a lot more!

Again thanks to Meryl for allowing me to do this. And wonderful that Gracie is getting better. (Bad diagnosis. Bummer.)

Have a laugh on YouTube

My brother sent me a link to a YouTube video of LOTR with Zep’s “Battle of Evermore” as the background music. (And may I say: It does NOT work.)

But I found this neat video, which does work: How the Lord of the Rings should have ended.

And if that one isn’t funny enough, this one is. Which LOTR guy is gay?

There’s a parody song about the Backstreet Boys that I’d never heard, which makes it hilarious.

And if anyone can tell me where the background music of this LOTR video is, I’d appreciate it. I know I’ve heard it before. I don’t think it’s the LOTR soundtrack.

Lebanon - a putsch is looming

Alarming news from Lebanon were not unexpected: for months various Western sources predicted an attempt by Hezbollah and its Syrian and Iranian sponsors to take over the government. And now it has started to happen.

The prospect of renewed chaos loomed over Lebanon on Saturday after the Hezbollah movement and its Shiite allies quit the government, plunging the country into a political crisis that could quickly spill into the streets.

In a joint statement read on Hezbollah’s television station Al Manar, Hezbollah and Amal said their ministers had resigned “to pave the way for the majority to practice what it wants freely.”

And what is it precisely that this “majority” wants to practice freely?

It also coincided with the finalization of a draft UN resolution that will establish an international tribunal to investigate those responsible for the death of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, whose February 2005 assassination was widely blamed on Syria. Lebanon’s Cabinet is due to meet Monday to approve the draft.

Veto powers in the Cabinet would also give Hezbollah the opportunity to block other important government decisions in the wake of the war with Israel. They include future moves to order the disarmament of Hezbollah’s guerrilla army, something Israel demanded as a condition for ending hostilities against Lebanon but which has slipped off the list of Lebanon’s priorities amid the rising domestic political tensions.

Should be abundantly clear, shouldn’t it? And to make this even more clear, up to the “in your face” category of clear, here is a clarification:

Hezbollah’s deputy leader, Naim Qassem, told a Hezbollah gathering held to honor the “martyrs” of Lebanon’s conflicts with Israel that Hezbollah would “consult with its allies before deciding its next move.”

No need to add anything. I hope the people of Lebanon will find it in themselves to get rid of that malignant growth before it is too late.
