Amadinejad calls for Israel’s destruction again; silence ensues

Once again, the president of Iran, a UN member state, calls for the destruction of Israel, a UN member state, in violation of the UN Charter, and his calls are met with silence from the international community.

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia Aug 3, 2006 (AP)— Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday the solution to the Middle East crisis is to destroy Israel. In a speech during an emergency meeting of Muslim leaders, Ahmadinejad also called for an immediate halt to fighting in Lebanon between Israel and the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah.

“Although the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented,” he said.

Ahmadinejad, who has drawn international condemnation with previous calls for Israel to be wiped off the map, said the Middle East would be better off “without the existence of the Zionist regime.”

Israel “is an illegitimate regime, there is no legal basis for its existence,” he said.

Oh, wait, there’s one nation that responded to Gorilla Boy’s threats.

In Jerusalem, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev responded by noting the ties between Ahmadinejad’s regime and Hezbollah.

“Our operation in Lebanon is designed to neutralize one of the long arms of Iran Hezbollah,” Regev said. “Hezbollah is their proxy, being used as an instrument of Teheran to advance their extremist agenda and the blow to Hezbollah is a blow to Iranian interests and a blow to all extremist jihadist forces in the region.”

Wait, a search of Google News found me one source that is protesting the Iranian call for the destruction of Israel: Tony Blair.

In a press conference early Thursday afternoon, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said that he finds it astounding that President Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be “wiped off the map” as a solution to the Middle East’s problems.

“If someone else were to call for Iran or Syria to be wiped off the map, people would be tearing the house down!” he added.

This is true. Imagine, if you will, that Israel called for the destruction of Iran. Just imagine the reverberations in such a case. In fact, let us remember the reverberations when President Bush called Iran, Iraq, and North Korea the “Axis of Evil.” (And by the way, he’s been proven right.) The world roared in outrage.

And yet, not a peep when the president of a nation threatens the destruction of another sovereign nation, as well as the legitimacy of its existence—which was, of course, upheld by the UN in 1948.

The Jew-hatred of the Islamic world continues unabated and unchallenged, even as Israel is fighting for her life.

The world does not like the Jews.

Update: The French have weighed in. Still waiting on Kofi.

If somebody removed the Pharaohs of Teheran the region would be much more peaceful. Basically the Iranians have until their Satan-worshiping tyrants get a nuke to ovethrow them. When Gorilla Boy and his consiglieri begin tossing nukes around the country of Iran will be destroyed. There is no way other countries can endure a nuclear attack, successful or failed, and not respond with nukes. Then the Iranians will be fried in the nuke exchange. If they want to live they must ovethrow their swinish rulers.

If Israel were taken up to heaven tomorrow, it would not create a Middle East peace.

If anyone believes that son of al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden story about helping Hezbollah, it appears the only help will be to an early grave. The al Qaeda web site is calling for the creation of “sleeper cells” in Lebanon to undermine Hezbollah.

The Shia vs. Sunni battle among heretics continues.

The thought occurs to me that – if Islam/Muslims/other faiths mirror the ‘End Times’ as I (myself, a Catholic) understand it – then why would they really want to hasten the calendar to this event(s)??

    Very strange.

But then, I am not advocating a pacifistic approach to dealing with the extremists in my lifetime.

Doesn’t matter what he says, it’s what is the world going to do about it. In this case nothing. Israel will not go yet, and he may bite off more than he can chew.

  10. Hube says:

The world (including many Americans) will only experience outrage if a celeb like Mel Gibson denigrates Jews.

    World leaders? No big deal.

    Amazing.

In other words, “we’re losing, we’re getting out butts kicked, time-out! Time-out!” It’s too much for these cowards when they are fired upon in return.

Iran wants nukes?? I say lets give them some. Starting with one for Ahmadinejad… delivered via B-1.

  13. Vic Levy says:

The Arabs north and south of Israel have no prisoners because they kill them.
Israel has thousands of Arab prisoners because they don’t kill them but also they represent the large volume of attacks against Israel.
Many Arab Israelis were killed during the present war. They are about 1 million Arabs Israelis, they are no Jews in Arab countries, they were kicked out and had all their assets confiscated. Israel absorbed them, no one claimed any compensation. The “Palestinians” became refugees by their own choice, no one forced them out but they are claiming compensation with the strong support of many European countries.
Do you think the bias of the West is because they are scared of the violent reactions of the large Muslim residents, if they dare give any form of support for Israel.
The West has been invaded by very large Muslim populations, already they are threatening openly the countries they live in. Doesn’t it sound strange that they leave their coutries for better living and working conditions and yet the same people are demanding the destruction of the western culture?

I can’t think of anything more frightening than this evil, madman in control of nuclear weapons.I certainly don’t think GWB has a perfect batting average, but I believe he’ll take out those facilities if Iran doesn’t stop their program.
