I’ve made up my mind on the port issue

I was trying to decide which side of the argument to take regarding a Dubai-based company getting ownership of the company that runs six American ports. Then I read this:

The Bush administration got support Monday from former President Carter, a Democrat and frequent critic of the administration.

“My presumption is, and my belief is, that the president and his secretary of state and the Defense Department and others have adequately cleared the Dubai government organization to manage these ports,” Carter told CNN. “I don’t think there’s any particular threat to our security.”

Right. Now I know for a fact that the terrorists will be moving materials through this company. Ditch the deal. Jimmy Carter has convinced me.

If he told me it was sunny outside, I’d break out the rain gear.

BTW I believe Jimmy Carter has taken a lot of money in donations from the UAE to fund his library. Also to note the UAE has funded Holocaust denial as well. Not a surprise there.

This port issue is a no brainer. Turning our security over to any Islamic nation is suicidal. Watch the Administration back down in the coming days. Jimmy Carter is permanently stuck on stupid.

I would first first check wheter he had been paid by the manufacturers of suntan lotion first. If he was being paid by the manufactureres of umbrellas, then he might be telling the truth.

    Reality check, people.

The company that “runs” the port has nothing to do with security. Port security is run by the Coast Guard. Container security is run by Customs. The British company which was bought by the UAE company has nothing to do with port security. They manage the business operations of the ports.

Looks like our friends in Congress are looking for “wave the flag” publicity at the expense of reality.

Meryl, help me understand why you don’t like Carter. I know he’s made comments recently about Hamas, but what about everything he’s done for Middle East Peace in the past?

    I just read this:

and it seems he’s done a lot of work for peace in Israel.

Enlighten me – if you see this comment.

  7. For starters, after he left office, he advised Yasser Arafat on how to cultivate better ties with Europe and make Israel look like the bad guy.

Jimmy is a closet Jew-hater. Ever listen to him talk about Ariel Sharon? He can’t stop himself from nearly spitting with anger. And yet, he was all lovey-dovey with the greatest mass murderer of Jews since Hitler, his buddy Arafat.

Carter also certified the “election” of Arafat as “free and fair.” Do you remember who ran against him? Nope, nobody else does, either. His rivals were all murderered or intimidated into not running. He ran against some old woman nobody had ever heard of.

Try going beyond Wikipedia for information next time. They lean left.
