Well, he is a MAINE coon cat

Tig wanted to check out the snow. Look: Tigger tracks!

Cute! Tig is brave, my Siamese Coco will barely let his paw touch the snow!
We are expecting a foot of snow in Minneapolis over the next 48 hours, argh!

  2. It’s that marvelous Maine coon cat coat. It protects him against the cold AND the heat. I want one. (But not at the cost of a kitty’s life. Perhaps I should collect his sheddings and make a sweater.)

  3. Rahel says:

Ah, the magic Maine Coon coat. And paws. And face. And… and….

    How’s Gracie taking the weather?

  4. Pamela says:

Tiggy! You have built in snow shoes

  5. Kim says:

It looks like Tig had quite an adventure! Love those Tig paw prints!

  6. Jay Tea says:

Good grief. So, so many toes…

Damn. I’ve hunted things with smaller tracks.

    Hi Meryl;

Well, perhaps not a coat, but a scarf or some mittens are possible. Try a Google search on the terms “pet fur spinning yarn”. There are a fair number of folks who will take the results of your brushing Tig and make yarn…and from there, anything you want. Might take a while to gather enough material, but I’ll bet he loves to be brushed, so it’s a win-win.

    Two examples:

I would do this, but I have devons, who are very short haired…it would take years to gather enough to make anything significant.

  9. Kev, Maine coons tend to have big feet. It’s part of their charm. And they have fur between their toes. That’s not part of their charm. That’s a major pain in the ass when clipping claws. But he only weights sixteen pounds. Tig 2 was bigger. This one is a very long cat. Tig the first was the fattest Tig. I put him on a diet when he reached twenty pounds and his belly fur started brushing the ground.

I blame myself. I believe that a fat cat is a happy cat. All of my cats are happy.

Yeah, I actually had a Maine Coon myself a few years back, complete with the extra dewclaw. Your pics always bring fond memories of him.
