The hero has a house in Connecticut with six doors and during the cold months when the cat wants to go out he has to take it to each door to show it that there’s winter outside every one, because the cat keeps looking for “The Door Into Summer.”

I first read the book in junior high and recall thinking that it was set in what seemed to me the far, almost unimaginable future–the year 2000.
