Concerning the Rotary Clubs, Daniel Pipes explained it, I think in his book “The Hidden Hand” which is about conspiracy thinking in the Middle East. The Rotary Clubs sposor vaccination programs in the Thrid World as part of its charitable activities. Muslim radicals see this as poisoning the Umma. Therefore they hate the Rotary Clubs for this sposorship.

I don’t know about the Lions Clubs; maybe they also sponsor vaccination programs. I had not heard that before. I suppose they are down on the Boy Scouts as well.

Gary, it’s as good a theory as any. I don’t know much about the Rotary and my main contact with the Lions is that as I have an unusual prescription they’re always happy to get my old glasses. But I’ve never heard it claimed that they are anything other than what they claim–public service organizations who do fine work.

People would question both the sanity and the connection to reality of any group that blamed another group for the nefarious Rotarians, but as you’ve noticed standards change when a group hates Jews.

Gary, that’s because they don’t really mean it. They just want peace with their neighbors; all that stuff about wiping out Israel and exterminating Jews everywhere, that’s just that colorful Arab rhetoric.

And with that in mind, of course, you can discount everything that Hamas and the PA say and everything that spews from virtually every imaginable source but mosques to children’s tv programs.

By the way, the Hamas charter blames Jews for the French Revolution and the world wars, which I can at least understand. But we’re also blamed for such international fonts of evil as…the Lions and the Rotary clubs. Any idea why these are seen as part of the Zionist conspiracy?

Forget about Hamas agreeing to recognize Israel – how about just not wanting to kill every Jew in the world? I’ve got a link to the Hamas charter, and it calls explicitly for the murder of Jews – not Israelis, Zionists, or “settlers” – Jews. That anyone would consider them anything but a savage, genocidal hate group is a disgrace and an outrage. I know I’m preaching to the choir here but it is simply appalling that this fact is not mentioned every single time someone prattles on about Hamas “moderating”. Of all the hypocrisies of the MSM this is one of the worst.
