Oh… oh… Meryl, thank you for the laugh. I needed it.

I felt this way when I was working for the Encyclopedia of Jewish Women back in the mid-2000s. Both the history of the Jews and the history of women can be extremely depressing at times, and to make matters worse, it was the height of the second Intifada. I came pretty close to burning out a couple of times.

So — seriously — I sympathize. Of course I’m a huge fan of your cat pictures, but do whatever you think best.

Like Herschel, I am amazed at your grit in following such depressing dreck. I can sympathize. I signed up to take two history classes this summer. The first one, entitled Politics and Religion in the Modern Middle East, just finished. Four weeks of that was really depressing. The next one is History of the Arab-Israel Conflict, and I don’t think I can take another four weeks of depression. Especially not when the prof is a standard issue liberal who thinks all Likudniks and Neocons wear horns. I think I’ll bail out.

Meryl, I have at times wondered how you have been able to continue on with your valiant work exposing the ubiquitous anti-Israel media hypocrisy without getting burnt out. Perhaps a week off “leave” away from this very difficult subject will be beneficial for you.
So the prescription for cyber warrior Meryl is a one week leave away from the hard news battle zone!
Hopefully, you will be energized, and want to come back!
