Paranoid conspiracies about Jews, Zionists, America, Freemasons, and the Rotary Clubs are de rigeur in the Middle East. Saddam accused the Iranian Ayatollahs of being Zionist puppets during the Iran-Iraq War, and the Iranians dissed him back in the same way. It would be hilarious if these swine weren’t a bunch of genocidal, bloody-handed thugs and tyrants.

Personally, I hope the Libyans hang Ghaddaffi and his unsavory spawn from whatever high point is handy for them. I don’t expect anything better to follow him, but one tyrant out of the way is better than none. And hanging tyrants may help to moderate the behavior of their successors. Like the British shooting an admiral from time to time, hanging tyrants pour encourager les autres has its attractions.
