"that Abbas has spoken of a worse case scenario of turning control of the West Bank back over to Israel. But even that wonâ€t work.

Why? Israel wouldnâ€t accept it and Abbas knows that."

hmm, from the world of the Vaguely Science Fictional - David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest" t'be exact - a scenario is played out whereby .. the United States gives most of New England and upstate New York to Canada .. with the understanding that it will be used as a toxic waste dump (one which will also include part of Quebec): http://paytonij.wikispaces.com/The+Great+Concavity

Very true Alex.

I think things could be improved somewhat by giving the whole Peace Process a rest, say for ten years. Let the status quo remain. Let the PA try to make somekind of state that works out of Judea and Samaria. Let the Gazans experience the delights of Hamas' rule that they were so eager to vote for. Let Israel kill whatever terrorists try to kill Israleis or Jews, and shoot back whenever the Arabs shoot at them. Let the major nations turn their attention to Iran and do something effective about the mullahs' attempt to become a nuclear power before they mullahs do so and become able to set off a nuclear war. Then, when ten years are up, see if the Palestinian Arabs are willing to make peace. I doubt they will be, for I think the don't want a real state. I think they just want to kill Jews, but perhaps I'm wrong about that.

Oh, and all money transfers, shipments of goods, and provision of services into Gaza should be stopped, completely, until Gilad Shalit is released. Enough water and food to provide for life can be sent in, but nothing else.

It may be a footnote now, but the Arabs always insisted after 1949 that the what are now referred to as Israel's pre-1967 borders were not recognized borders; they were cease-fire lines along which the Arabs had temporarily agreed to stop fighting, but the lines would be crossed when the time came to wipe out the Zionist entity.
