Iron Dome protects only against the short range missiles from just across the border. Arrow missiles protect against some IRBMs, like the Scuds Syria recently delivered to Hezbollah. Iranian missles will be larger and faster, more difficult to hit. Israel canceled its high-power chemical laser project, which would be suitable for destroying such missiles once fully operational. Perhaps some Standard III’s with Aegis systems for control would do the trick, like the ones we have on some of our Aegis cruisers and destroyers. I understand it is being adapted to land-based use. A good thing, since the US has several places that are prime targets for some crackpot state that wants to attack the Great Satan. For example, NorK would open a war by nuking Guam, Okinawa, and Oahu to take out the first response reinforcements for the US-ROK forces. Iran is likely to nuke Diego Garcia the minute it gets into a shooting war with the US, after Iran develops its nukes and the missiles to carry them. Since nothing looks like stopping them from completing their plans, this is a highly probable threat.
