Leaving aside the fact that Friedman is a left-winger beloved by the Saudi regime, I have to say I'm glad that he acknowledges that Israel WON its last three wars. I have been saying that continually, over and over, and most who ever pretend to pay attention just
roll their eyes.

And that is after I point out that Nasrallah who claims a devine victory in the Hezbollah is hiding deep in the bowels of Lebanon. Very strange behavior for a "victor".

So I do appreciate that bit of wisdom from Thomas F. Most of the media has fingers in their ears while shouting "nyah nyah nyah" while purring about the brilliant force of arms shown by hamas/hezbollah/IHH etc. Proving, yet again, that most journalists learned nothing in history class other than to parrot back the conventional 'wisdom' their lecturer spewed out.

Friedman is a glib, superficial, intellectually dishonest waste of time, in other words, a liberal idiot. He hasn't had anything worthwhile to say in the last 20 years. Ehud Barak is a serial bungler & very close to being a traitor, what that idiot is doing as Defense Minister is incomprehensible. Read an article at DebkaFile on the CIA assessment of Iran's nuclear-material stockpile, enough for 2 atomic bombs & Netanyahu's following Obama's lead in doing nothing, aided of course by moron Ehud Barak. Who cares about Friedman - I'm far more worried about Israel's lack of leadership.

Seems clear enough to me, Dad. When Israel is strong then it must take risks for peace...irrespective of what the other side does. When Israel is weak then it must take risks for peace...irrespective of what the other side does. When Israel is neither strong nor weak then it must... And implicit in all this is that the Palestinians want a genuine peace and Israel only needs to find the key that will unlock the door and allow the Palestinians' thirst for peace to flow out.

Of course, when Israel does take those risks then Israelis wind up being killed...which of course means that Israel must take risks for peace and again, Palestinian actions and ideas simply aren't part of the equation.

And yes, a man who on more than one occasion has wished that for a brief time we could have a Chinese-style system where the benevolent elite tell us what to do is sort of not the best source for all this. And I don't notice China is without problems, anyway.
