No, I can’t agree that it’s political. Plenty of people bring their kids to the Wall for their bar mitzvah. My cousin was planning her son’s bar mitzvah in Israel, and she’s lived in the U.S. her entire life. The Kotel was part of the plan. No matter what you think of Rahm, you also have to take into account the child’s wishes. Bet he leaped at the offer to have his bar mitzvah in Israel.

I also don’t believe that Emanuel is an enemy of the Jews. Empress Trudy, that’s a pretty nasty charge you’re laying on him. Noam Chomsky, he isn’t. Misguided about the Palestinians, sure. A Jew-hater? Please.

His bringing the event to the Wall is a political move, not a religious one.

It’s something you do with family and friends, community… and his community is in Chicago… or maybe DC at this point.
