On Iron Dome:
The problem with all anti-missile systems is that they can be defeated by using larger numbers of attacking missiles simultaneously. Each Qasssam is much cheaper than each Iron Dome missile.

But this still requires an attacker to coordinate the launchers. They have to synchronize their watches to a common signal and launch at an agreed-upon time. This additional organizational work can be countered, confused, disrupted etc. But it’s not easy.

So it is a game-changer, but not in a nice simple way.

First time “Iron Dome” knocks a Qassam out of the sky, the Palestinians will claim the intercepted rocket landed on a children’s birthday party and killed them all. They’ll even show off the bodies, and nobody will care when one of them sits up and asks for a drink of water on camera.

All that will matter is demanding that Israel destroy the Iron Dome system, just like all that mattered up till now was that Israel destroy the “aparteid wall” and “suffocating checkpoints.”
