It sadly must be pointed out that in America, at least, 90% of this stuff originates on universities campuses. We don’t see the UAW or the Rotary Club calling for boycotts of Israel; it’s almost always academics (particularly academics in the “humanities” or the “social sciences”), writers, or entertainers.

Part of the justification for this country’s huge investment of money and human resources in higher education was that it would make people more thoughtful and humane. It seens to have done the opposite.

One more “asset” that needs to be marked down.
