More (real) Spam?? Ugh! Feh! My parents had a bomb shelter full of it in the early- to mid-1960’s. I think they left it when they sold that house and moved.

The answer is simple – junk mail senders pay the government for the privilege of sending their advertising. Shound the gov’t come up with a way of taxing us on email, electronic spam will become legal.

The thing I don’t understand is the spam I sometimes get from Russia – in Russian! I don’t read the language, but I had a few pieces translated, and it is for real companies – tax accountants, movers, etc. I’ve never been there (and have no intention of going), nor do I have any actual dealings there other than a few ebay purchases. That’s poorly targeted advertising.

So here’s a question for everyone: Why is sending out spam illegal, but junk mail is not?

Let’s face it. If we applied the same routines to eliminating junk mail as we did to eliminating spam mail, there’d be whole forests of trees still alive today.

But the direct advertisers have a hell of a lobby.
