There will be a publicly announced truce, following which rockets will, after a brief hiatus, continue to come down on Israel. Hamas will ascribe this to rogue elements that it can’t control, everyone will pretend to believe this, and Israel’s eventual retaliation will be seen as breaking the truce, contributing to the cycle of violence, etc. Any bets that this won’t happen?
