And it’s well-known, or at least it should be, that among the Ashkenazim the Litvakers are the intellectual creme de la creme. As it happens, I’m one but no need to be excessively modest.

On the other hand, I know enough Jews who call into question any claim about superior intellect, and Israel stands as proof that whatever our assets are as a people, practical politics isn’t one of them.

I’ve not read C Murray’s new book about Jewish intellectual accomplishments,but he and Hernstein do pretty convincingly posit (at least)Ashkenazi Jews are the brightest human sub group.This si useful for a couple of reasons.first,to point out we’re not all the same.And ,secondly,to remind myself,if not others,that I’m a member of a unique sub group,myself.
And,Meryl,the biggest news re’ Nobel Prize winners and Israel is Jimmy Carter’s little nugget.Can you tell me how an American Jew can continue to suppoort the Democrats?

It must be horrible to be have such a bad mind-set that you can’t accept responsibility for your own failures, and you have to blame it on some “grand” conspiracy.

And WHY do you follow a guy that isn’t 6 feet tall, NOT blond haired, and has dark beady eyes?

Hey, that’s not fair, Meryl. If there was a Nobel for “Biggest Loser and Cad”, Oswald Mosley would’ve certainly won. He also would’ve run well for “Upper Class Twit of the Year”, but that’s another thread.
