The insistence on US permission to build loudly proclaims that Israel does not believe that it really has a claim to the disputed territories. That timidity contributes to the terrorism, because it makes the Palestinian claims credible. If Israel needs US permission, then the lands must, logically, belong to the Palis, and Israel is obstructing peace by not handing them over, right?

How long before the Knesset has to hold elections?
