Perhaps the best solution would be for Egypt to give the Sinai to the Palestinian's for their state, and let Israel keep the West Bank, and be done with.

Now there is a peace plan everyone can get behind. The Arabs (rich with our oil money) pay to develop an entire infrastructure in the Sinai - enough homes for 100% of the Pal's (completely furnished, with solar panels on all the roofs so they don't need electricity from any outside source), desalinization facilities for fresh water, etc. A complete turn-key civilization (it even has oil; the Suez Canal revenue could be shared; and with water the land is fertile for farming), at a level of comfort/convenience that exceeds that of most of the first world. A place that anyone would want to live.

The 'price', of course, is complete disengagement from Israel. A mile wide border minefield with automated systems to shoot down any terrorists trying to cross and any missiles shot over the top. No way for there to be any interaction whatsoever. And all the Pal's must move in; they cannot stay in Israel.

Then the world gets to say - there's our State, enjoy. Europe could still send money of they want, but it wouldn't strictly be necessary.

I wonder if it could work?
