Judging by the willingness of the Euros to hand over money to Hamas and Fatah while the Arabs are carrying out operations of war against Israel, as well as to take the Arabs’ side in diplomacy, not even words are reuired of the Arabs, for Hamas has made no bones about its genocidal intentions, and Fatah has never amended the PLO charter to remove the call for Israel’s destruction.

This is absolutely unfair to Dennis Ross, Soccerdad. Ross is proceeding by diplomatic rules that are long-standing and agreed upon by virtually every government, every NGO, and virtually every editorialist in the West. His statement does nothing more than urge both parties, equally, to observe these protocols and procedures. Pretty much everyone agrees on what these milestones are. Ross can hardly be blamed–indeed, he should be lauded–for insisting that international rules be followed by both the Arabs and Israel.

Oh, by the way, those rules are: what is required from the Jews is deeds. What is required fromt he Arabs are words.

IIRC, Ross himself said (around 2001 or 2002) that the reason why the Camp David talks failed was that the Palestinians realized that they never had to make good on any promises.
