My knee-jerk reaction to the UN and genocide is, well, the UN has done nothing to stop any of the horrendous acts that have occurred since the end of WWII.

Not to be ungrateful for the link, since I’m grateful, and particularly grateful for the coverage of the Darfur issue, but the above paragraph clearly refers to genocide in Europe. That’s why it’s phrased that way. That’s why neither Darfur nor Rwanda are referred to. This is a commonplace statement and observation that many people and organizations focused on genocide have made many times.
