There is much speculation as to why the Israeli Prime Minister would visit Russia secretly, renting a private jet to keep his actions quiet.

He could be discussing Iranian weapons deals with Russia, as the story says:

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Moscow earlier this week, where he is believed to have discussed new weapons deals between Russia and Iran.

Or perhaps he had something to say about the Russian ship that went missing in July. According to Time magazine, the ship was carrying S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, which would make it much more difficult for Israel to take out Iranian nuclear reactors.

And now a Russian paper is publishing a report that Netanyahu was in Russia to tell the Kremlin that Israel is going to go after the reactors.

The paper then quoted what it called an “informed” Israeli source, who wished to remain anonymous, as saying, “Such a visit could be related to new information and could threaten the Iranian nuclear program. It should not be ruled out that Israel may be ready to move on to decisive actions with regards to Iran, and Netanyahu has decided to inform the Kremlin of this.”

I’m more than a little skeptical, because when did Russian media ever tell the truth about anything? But there is a big, big mystery: Why did Bibi go to Russia secretly? Why go to such great lengths to hide his trip?

One thing is certain: Benjamin Netanyahu is not underestimating the Iranian nuclear capability. He’s been on TV many, many times in the past few years urging the world to stop Iran’s march to nuclear power. In this regard, Bibi has the backing of the overwhelming majority of the Israeli people. Their survival is at stake, and they know it. And Jews have learned over the centuries not to trust in others to protect us.

As Prime Minister, Netanyahu has access to intel that you and I could only dream about. Which makes this secret trip to Russia even more interesting. Did he go to tell them to get their technicians out of Dodge before the bombs fall? Did he go to tell them that the Mossad picked up a cargo of S-300 missiles on its way to Iran and that Russia needs to stop arming Israel’s enemy or Israel will bring the evidence to the UN? Did he try to make a deal with the Russians that will stop the Iranian nuclear progress?

One’s thing for sure: He didn’t visit Russia just to pick up a new set of Matryoshka dolls.

The Obama administration is talking about deliberately going against the Constitution of the United States. Because, you see, the Constitution is inconvenient to what they want to do regarding a treaty with Russia.

MOSCOW — With the clock running out on a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires on December 5, a senior White House official said Sunday said that the difficulty of the task might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in ratifying treaties by enforcing certain aspects of a new deal on an executive levels and a “provisional basis” until the Senate ratifies the treaty.

“The most ideal situation would be to finish it in time that it could be submitted to the Senate so that it can be ratified,” said White House Coordinator for Weapons of Mass Destruction, Security and Arms Control Gary Samore. “If we’re not able to do that, we’ll have to look at arrangements to continue some of the inspection provisions, keep them enforced in a provisional basis, while the Senate considers the treaty.”

Has any other administration in recent history been so blithely and deliberately ignoring the law that has run this country for more than 200 years?

This is an impeachable offense. But I’m going to guess that you won’t even see it raised in the mainstream media. Unbelievable. The administration is considering disobeying the Constitution an option.

Barack Obama is making the Russian president happy.

Barack Obama is making the Russian president happy.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned on Tuesday against attempts to impose Western values on the Arab world, praising US President Barack Obama’s recent efforts to reach out to the Muslims.

“There is something to learn from the Arab world,” Medvedev said in an adress at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

“And therefore mentorship, or democraticising, or all the more so direct involvement from the outside is asolutely unacceptable, in our opinion,” he said in remarks seen as thinly veiled criticism of the previous US administration.

“And understanding of this is growing in the world,” Medvedev said, adding that Obama’s speech in Cairo earlier this month provided evidence to that.

I’m so happy our president is making the Russians happy. Why, Hugo Chavez is about to jump on the Obama bandwagon after his stance on Honduras, and the Arab kings and dictators are already pretty happy with Obama’s submissive speech in Cairo. All that’s left is for Obama to somehow figure out a way to appease North Korea, Iran, and Syria and he’ll have all those dictator ducks in a row, thus showing the conservatives of the world that they were wrong to think that you can’t work with people who don’t believe in basic human freedoms.

As for the Russian respect for the Muslim world, well, see “Chechen, wars of” for the rank hypocrisy of Medvedev’s statements. Then read this fact:

Medvedev also said Russia was an “inalienable part” of the Muslim world and was keen to cooperate with the Arab countries in the future.

Earlier Tuesday, he signed a 10-year strategic cooperation pact with Mubarak, with both nations saying there were committed to the “building of a new multipolar world order, which will be more democratic, fair and safe for all countries.”

No, that’s not it. This is.

With trade of 4.1 billion dollars last year, Egypt is Russia’s largest commercial partner in Africa.

Russia has also expressed interest in a 1.5 billion-1.8 billion-dollar tender to construct Egypt’s first atomic power station, which would resume the country’s nuclear programme after a 20-year freeze.

That Cairo speech just keeps on giving dividends. To everyone but Israel, of course.

Olmert is going to beg the Russians to stop doing what they’ve done for, oh, fifty, sixty years now: Sell weapons to Israel’s enemies.

Olmert is going to beg the Russians to stop doing what they’ve done for, oh, fifty, sixty years now: Sell weapons to Israel’s enemies.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, traveling to Russia this week on one of his last diplomatic missions, said Sunday he would urge Moscow not to sell sophisticated weapons to Israel’s enemies.

Iran is interested in buying anti-aircraft missiles that could cripple any military strike against its nuclear program. Israel is also afraid Moscow would sell Syria the same missile defense system.

In an overture before the trip, Israel’s Cabinet voted Sunday to recognize Russia’s claim to property in downtown Jerusalem. Russia laid claim to the site, named for the son of a Russian czar, on behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Yeah, that’ll help. The country that originated the forgery “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”—the one that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cribs from today, and that is still cited as proof of ZOG by the Jew-haters worldwide—they’re going to not sell Israel’s enemies weapons because, um, let’s see—because Olmert asks nicely?

I think not.

Iran says it plans to buy from Russia advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missiles that could detect aircraft sent to destroy its nuclear facilities. Syria, which backs Hezbollah guerrillas who battled Israel in Lebanon in 2006, reportedly has asked to buy them, too.

Russia has not confirmed the reports. But recently, Russia’s foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, said his government was prepared to sell Syria arms with a “defensive character.”

Then there’s the fact that the Iranian nuclear program is going full steam ahead, thanks to Russian assistance. But sure, Ehud. Go to Russia with your hat in your hand. See what happens. My guess: Nothing.
