No, really, Islam is tolerant of other religions: Indonesian police found a 330-pound bomb underneath a gas line near a church. Think of the extra deviousness of placing the bomb next to a gas line. The death toll during this Easter holiday would have been horrific. But these are, after all, the authors of the Bali bombing.

Muslim ERA Watch: All but one of the rapists in the infamous case in which a young woman was ordered to be raped by a village council because her brother was accused of having an affair with a woman of a higher cast. Yes, the punishment was for the relatives of the woman to rape the boy’s sister. Because that’s just such a perfect punishment for such a non-crime. Well, all but one of the rapists have been freed. Because, after all, she’s just a woman. Her voice counts for half that of a man’s in sharia court, and four eyewitnesses must actually see the rape occur before there can be a conviction. That, plus, well, let’s face it: Pakistani Muslims aren’t too keen on their women getting all uppity and complaining about things like being raped.

Say, did you know there’s still fighting in the Sudan? Of course you didn’t. The news media are too busy telling you about how horribly Israel treats the Palestinians.

ISI and Taliban, sitting in a tree: Really? The ISI has links to terrorists? Who knew? Oh, that’s right. We did. We’ve known for over a decade, and yet, Pakistan likes to pretend it isn’t so. Sure.

Muslims won’t live under a dhimmi: Nigerian riots have claimed over 100 lives. Why are they rioting? Because a Christian won the election. ROPMA is an acronym we used to see a lot on LGF. It means, “Religion of Peace, my ass.” That would be because of acts like these:

Those perceived to be supporters of the ruling party have been stabbed, hacked and shot to death by angry youths since Jonathan, a Christian southerner, defeated Buhari. Churches, mosques, homes and shops have been set ablaze.

You know what’s really scary? The fact that all I did was go to the Townhall wire service world news page for the above articles. I didn’t have to search hard at all to make a news roundup entirely of violent acts by Muslims. And who is being demonized for causing all of the above? That’s right, Israel. If only Israel made peace with the Palestinians, none of the above actions would have happened.

Absurd?

Of course it is. But that’s the narrative that’s been pushed for decades.

For the last few months, a forty-three-page Arabic-language booklet has been emailed to Hamas activists in the Gaza Strip and to select members of the group in the West Bank and elsewhere. Titled The Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Revolution in Iran, this new publication represents the most important attempt to date to connect the growing cooperation between Hamas and its Iranian mentors to religious affinities, rather than political expediency. The argument, in essence, is that the Muslim Brotherhood — with Hamas as its Palestinian branch — is a natural partner of Iran, with which it shares a common set of values and a joint vision of the revival of the caliphate, despite the divide that historically separates Sunnis from Shiites and often sets them against each other.

Hmm. So I shouldn’t be surprised to read that Hamas Invites Ahmadinejad to Visit Gaza(via Daily Alert Blog)

So then Iran sees Sunni Hamas as much as its ally as Shi’ite Hezbollah. Iran and its proxies know that their enemies are the Great Satan and the Little Satan; differing religious beliefs are subordinate. The West must not ignore this.

Those tolerant Muslims in the United Arab Emirates—the nation you may remember due to the voluminous Mossad hit squad activity there when a Hamas terrorist was killed—have had its highest court rule that it’s just ducky for a man to beat his wife and children, as long as he doesn’t leave any marks.

Islamic sharia law allows a man to “discipline” his wife and children provided that he does not leave physical marks, according to a ruling by the supreme court in the United Arab Emirates.

The judgment was made in the case of a man who slapped and kicked his daughter and slapped his wife, injuring both slightly. But the federal court in Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE, also said that their bruises were evidence that the father had abused his legal right.

Say, do you think the UN Human Rights Committee will bring this up under special investigation? Do you think that Ban Ki-Moon will comment on it? Do you think that the world media will spend the next 72 hours writing scathing articles about legalizing domestic abuse?

Of course not. Because it wasn’t a court in Israel. Remember this next time you hear about those intolerant “ultra-Orthodox” Jews.

What, I wondered, was the significance of the city of Cordoba?

The Caliphate of Córdoba (Arabic: خلافة قرطبة Khilāfat Qurṭuba) ruled the Iberian peninsula (Al-Andalus) and North Africa from the city of Córdoba, from 929 to 1031.

Oh.

So an organization that bills itself as a moderate Islamic society that wants to build bridges between Islam and the West chooses to name the center after—the capital of the Islamic Caliphate.

Because that simply screams “moderate” to me.

There’s hope for the AP yet: This is the single most balanced piece by the AP on Israel I’ve read in years. It’s about Netanyahu withdrawing from the upcoming nuclear conference in Washington to prevent Arab nations from making the conference about Israel. At least, that’s the stated reason. I suspect the avoidance of Obama may be the real reason. Best thing about the AP: It mentions Mordecai Vanunu and does not call him a “nuclear whistleblower.” (And yes, I wrote the AP about that issue as well. Did it have an effect? Well, they’re calling him a nuclear technician now. Keep those cards and letters coming, boys and girls. They work.)

Yemeni child bride bleeds to death four days after wedding night: Need I say more? Fine. It’s a despicable, despicable thing to marry off children. The article says more than 25% of Yemeni females marry before age 15. It doesn’t say how many die after their wedding night. Now there’s a great religious tradition. And oh yeah—a group of clerics said people who think girls are getting married too young are apostates. So this custom won’t be changing anytime soon.

I guess he should have seen this coming: A Lebanese “psychic” is on death row in Saudi Arabia for practicing witchcraft. Wow, what a great, modern country that is: You can be beheaded for practicing witchcraft, even though there is no such thing as witchcraft. Say, Maureen Dowd, can you write another column on how great and modern Saudi Arabia is compared to Israel?

A 12-year-old Muslim girl was abducted and raped by a Coptic Christian Egyptian in November. The attacker was arrested. But the rule of law wasn’t enough. First, Muslims murdered Christian shoppers.

Attackers in a car raked a crowd of shoppers in a south Egypt town with gunfire, killing a policemen and six Coptic Christians on the eve of their Christmas celebrations, a security official said on Thursday.

Then they rioted, excuse me, “protested”, in AFP-speak:

In November, hundreds of Muslim protesters torched Christian-owned shops in the town of Farshut, near Nagaa Hammadi, and attacked a police station where they believed the suspected rapist was being held.

Here in America, we call people who burn shops “rioters.” At least the AP used the right term:

He said Muslim residents of Nag Hamadi and neighboring villages rioted for five days in November and torched and damaged Christian properties in the area after the rape.

But that was long after the AP, in the fourth paragraph, explained how there is generally peace between Muslims (who riot, murder, forcibly convert Copts, and burn Christian shops) and the Copts, the oldest Christian sect in Egypt:

Christians, mostly Coptics, account for about 10 percent of Egypt’s predominantly Muslim population. They generally live in peace with the Muslim majority although clashes and tensions in the south do occur, mostly over land or church construction disputes. In recent years, the clashes have begun seeping into the capital.

That’s the fourth paragraph. Your local paper’s world news section generally prints only the first three to five paragraphs of wire stories, and of course, the wire services know this. Here are paragraphs nine, ten, and eleven:

As Islamic conservatism gains ground, Christians have increasingly complained about discrimination by the Muslim majority.

Coptic Christians are limited in where they can build churches and must obtain government approval before expanding existing facilities. The government insists Christians enjoy the same rights as Muslims.

Vendetta killing is also common among southern Egyptians, and is usually over land or family disputes.

Every time the AP writer discusses anti-Christian actions by Egyptian Muslims, he feels compelled to explain that it may not just be religious bigotry. And yet, Muslims keep on killing Christians in Egypt. And even the AP acknowledges that Egypt refuses to let Copts build churches freely at the same time it insists that Christians are not discriminated against.

It’s funny how this topic never seems to come up when Obama talks about Muslims. Go figure.

Iranian Jews are the finest example of how Jews were treated in Muslim nations during the good old days of the Caliphate.

Besides their support, Mutai stressed that “ever since the revolution, the Jewish community has tried very hard not to publicly intervene in election propaganda and to keep clear of the political establishment, since the race between the four candidates has entered a circle of actual physical violence and street fights between supporters of Ahmadinejad and Mousavi. They do not participate in support rallies and certainly do not organize any.”

Professor David Menashri, Director of Tel Aviv University’s Center for Iranian Studies said he also believed that the Jewish votes in Iran are reserved for Ahmadinejad. “The Jews in Iran usually follow the ruling stream in everything to do with internal political power struggles and keep a low profile. They will stay quiet and immediately support whoever wins,” he said.

How can that be? I thought that Jews are cherished and protected under the Iranians—it’s only the Zionists that are despised, is it not?

Not. And this is why:

“The votes are allegedly secret, but in hindsight are not so secret. So the Jews plan to ensure they are on the winning side. In any case, they have no problem supporting whoever is elected,” Ezri said.

They have to support whoever is elected. The Jews of Iran are an endangered species, just as the Jews of the Arab world are pretty much gone from those nations. Yemen is currently the best examples of how Muslims treat The People of the Book. For more examples of that, go look for Christians in Saudi Arabia. You won’t find any publicly practicing their religion, because that’s illegal. Filipinos are regularly arrested for holding private worship services in their homes. Obama has an interesting take on this lack of tolerance.

And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.

Yes, the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality exist, but not so much under Islam.
