For some reason, that acronym won’t leave my mind. It probably has something to do with my OD’ing on how badly Obama is screwing up American industry and the economy. Keystone pipeline to lessen our dependence on foreign oil from states like Venezuela, whose <strike>dictator</strike> President works with our enemy, Iran and insults us at every chance? Forget about it, because the greens that support Obama are more important to his reelection chances than the 20,000 jobs that would have come from laying that pipeline. So now Canada will sell the oil to China, and we’ll keep on propping up Hugo Chavez’s near-dictatorship, which now includes safe houses for Hezbollah terrorists to work hand-in-glove with drug dealers and smugglers to set up a nice little line to the U.S.

So what does “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch” have to do with our current president?

Everything. Because the form of statism that he wants to impose on this nation is the statism that is bankrupting Europe. No matter how many New York Times columnists declare that Europe is better than the U.S. financially, or that European nations beat us in this statistic or other, the fact remains that the world is teetering on the brink of economic collapse due to the socialist state model. And for the record, every time someone points out that the infant mortality rate of the U.S. is much higher than that of Europe, remember that premature births have a lot to do with that statistic. And many European nations do not report premature births as births, thus lowering their infant mortality rates.

If Barack Obama gets a second term, this nation may never recover. This is a president who excoriated executive signing statements as a senator and candidate, and then pushed them to unconstitutional limits as a president. He has constantly complained that he has to work with Congress, or that he needs to “get around” a Congress that won’t work with him, even as he heads to the golf course for the 91st round of golf since he became president. He has been consolidating power in the presidency like no other that I can think of, and bemoaning that he doesn’t have enough power to do whatever he wants. Because he’s smarter than us, you see, and knows what’s best for this nation of soft people.

So what happens if we continue on this course? Well, in Norway, child services took away a couple’s children for hand-feeding them and letting them sleep in the bed with Mommy and Daddy. The children are one and three. You think that’s far-fetched? Here in the U.S., protective services took a child away from his parents because the child is obese.

TANSTAAFL. Or, as my father used to say: You get what you pay for. As long as the Republican candidate is not Ron Paul, I will be voting Republican this fall. Every one of you who thinks a Republican president will be worse than Obama could not be more wrong.

Cyber credit war: A Saudi hacker (or a person claiming to be a Saudi hacker) got into a database holding thousands of Israeli credit card info and has leaked the info online. Now, Israeli hackers say they have credit card info for Saudi shopping sites and will leak the info if the Saudi hacker doesn’t stop. All I can say is: I’m glad I’m not in either database, and both of them are wrong, but here’s hoping the threat stops the Saudi hacker.

It would be funny if it weren’t so serious: The IDF caught a Palestinian would-be suicide bomber and eight pipe bombs. How did they catch him? The wires sticking out of his clothing gave him away. Thank God for stupid terrorists.

No, really, Hamas is moderating, we swear it: Sure, they’re willing to make peace with Israel. Hell, even the AP is reporting the contrary:

Hamas’ prime minister in Gaza says the anti-Israeli militant group will never give up its arms, its territory or its claims on Jerusalem on behalf of the Palestinians.

Best part of the story? The last graf, which, of course, is the one that gets cuts from most World News sections of your local paper:

But not heard was “Kill the Jews!” a slogan used by ultraconservatives three days earlier upon Haniyeh’s arrival.

Why isolation won’t work: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is on a four-nation South American tour. The Monroe Doctrine is called for here, especially as his first stop is Venezuela. That’s the country whose leader, Hugo Chavez, says we’ve been giving South American leaders cancer. It is the most awesome weapon since the Zionist Death Ray that killed Yasser Arafat.

Ding dong the witch is dead: Kim Jong-il is gone. Alas, another is ready to take his place. Stupid Sith lords.

Not my grandfather’s religion: I don’t care what you say, rioting is not the part of Orthodox Judaism that I learned about growing up. No excuse. No excuse. NO excuse.

Why does Israel bother to keep its words when terrorists don’t keep theirs? The second part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner release deal went off as usual, with Palestinians attacking the IDF in gratitude. I’d have told them “Seeya!” and kept the terrorists in prison. Hamas doesn’t keep its word about not firing rockets. Just once, I’d like to see Israel tell them to go piss off, deal’s off. Or at least keep the ones involved in terror.

The awesomeness of the Arab Spring in one photo: This is what Arab democracy looks like. Especially for women. I would like to point out that in spite of the problems with religious Jews not wanting to sit near women on a bus, Israel has never had a state-run organization treat its women like this. Or execute them for witchcraft. Or send them back into a burning school for not having their heads covered. Yeah, that Muslim ERA Watch category is going to keep on getting bigger here.

Of course they do: The Haredi are asking religious millionaires to fund a private bus line so they don’t have to look at women when they ride the bus. Again, not the Judaism my grandfather taught me. I wonder what these guys would have done during the Exodus. Probably told Miriam to stop playing on her timbrels and the women to stop singing.

Good fences make good neighbors: Amos Harel writes how good fences are a good defense. Israel is building a fence along its desert border with Egypt. And the Syrian border has been improved:

After Palestinian and Syrian demonstrators managed to infiltrate the border during Nakba Day rioting, Ophir’s directorate was called in to repair the fence on the Golan Heights and the surrounding infrastructure, at a cost of some NIS 50 million.

Since then, Treiber says, “demonstrators have come from Syria, seen that the fence is impassable, and gone back.”

Time for another Karl Vick story on Israel: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your sources blame the Mossad for the blast in Iran that killed a big gun in their nuclear weapons program. Count how many times he uses the words “coyly” to defend his lone source telling him it was the Mossad that did it. So now Time magazine thinks that if you have one unnamed source, and you quote Israeli newspapers, that’s as good as two sources. Awesome journalism there, Time. But we expect no less than the “Begin (rhymes with Fagin)” magazine of record. And we all know what Vick rhymes with.

The AP spin is back: Of course it is. It never left. The NGO bill in Israel, that would limit foreign moneys to political organizations, is described by the AP as Israeli “doves.” Because of course, the bill doesn’t stop money going to ALL foreign-sourced NGOs, just the “dovish” ones. And check out the summation of the Goldstone Report:

The bills were drafted after Israel-based groups funded by foreign sources gave critical testimony about Israeli military conduct during the 2009 war in the Gaza Strip to a U.N.-appointed commission. The panel concluded there was evidence Israel committed war crimes there, but the author of the report later toned down the criticism.

The fact that so many organizations are saying that the two bills, if passed, would be a death sentence on their NGOs tells you more than you need to know about them. Foreign agents in the U.S. have to register. Israel should have the same laws. Let’s stop pretending that these are Israeli groups, when they are clearly foreign-funded, foreign-sourced, and foreign-run.

Doesn’t matter that the clocks changed, my body clock got me up an hour early. So off to the gym I went.

More Palestinian attacks on Israel, now, with less media bias! The AP is on a roll, presenting the facts, and just the facts, and no bias for the second time in a few days. Whoa. Does this mean the beginning of a beautiful friendship? (No, I don’t think so either, but it’s nice to see the balance for a change.) Isn’t it amazing what happens when stringers stop repeating the “they were innocent farmers working in their fields” lie? Although, thinking about it, the Palestinians aren’t even trying to hide that they’re constantly attacking Israel anymore. Why should they? The world has consistently attacked Israel and defended the Palestinians whether they lied or not.

But really, it’s not urgent: The IAEA is going to report that Iran is just around the corner from attaining nuclear bombs, but the Russians think that it’s silly to rush to sanctions in order to try to stop them. The Russians, of course, are the ones who are supplying the expertise to get those nuclear bombs. Because the Russians think they can control them? Really? Chechnya, anyone? So when the bomb goes off in Moscow, will there be anyone left in the Politburo to tell “I told you so”?

How out of touch is Ron Paul? This out of touch.

In the cradle of democracy, democracy is dead: The prime minister of Greece was essentially fired for wanting to allow his people to vote on a referendum about the EU plan to bail out Greece. Mind you, I have no sympathy for a populace that thinks it’s their God-given right to retire at age 52, and they’ve done it all to themselves–but the irony is so thick you can cut it with a broadsword. Democracy in the EU? No. Oligarchy? You betcha! Rule of the elites, for the elites, and the masses can eat cake.

The real strength behind the UNESCO win: Now the Palestinians will be suing Israel in international courts, this time via UNESCO. It’s all part of the delegitimization strategy. You would think that it wouldn’t work, but then, you wouldn’t have been reading this blog for the past nine years.

Yes, another Jew won another Nobel prize: And this time, he’s [gasp!] Israeli. Born before the state, actually. Damn those wily Jews and their ZOG conspiracies! They’re gaming the system, again! So we’re up to three so far (that are definitely Jews). We’ll keep you informed. And just for kicks and giggles, here’s the AP version, which does not (for a change) bash Israel. So that’s ten Nobels for the Israelis so far. Not bad for a tiny country only sixty-some years old.

Erdogan ups the ante in demagoguery: Nice to see that Erdogan is taking Panetta’s suggestion to improve relations with Israeli seriously. He’s now accusing Israel of being a nuclear threat. Why? Because Israel has nuclear weapons and no one else in the Middle East does—at least not yet. Yeah, what a great NATO partner. What a perfect addition to the EU Turkey would make. Gee. I wonder why he’s going all Islamist on Israel? Hm. Let’s think… oh, that’s right. Because he is an Islamist. And this is his latest shtick. He gave an interview to Time magazine last week, where he bashed Israel. Then there are the ten questions, where he—you guessed it—bashes Israel. Watch Turkey’s fortunes decline as the Islamists take a stronger hold. Everywhere Islamism rises, civil liberties fall, and brutality occurs.

And now, the new Uzi Mahnaimi journalist: Long-time readers will know that I warn you to ignore everything you read by Uzi Mahnaimi, who first brought us the utter bullshit of the bogus “genetic bomb” that would target only Palestinians and leave Israelis unharmed. He also told us that Israel was imminently attacking Iran about half a dozen times. Nope, still not IAF jets dropping bombs on Iranian nukes. Well, we have the new Uzi Mahnaimi, and his name is Tony Karon. He’s not content with bashing Israel, he’s also passing along bullshit stories about Israel attacking Iran. Thankfully, not many people read newsmagazines anymore.

The difference between Israelis and Palestinians: Here’s the difference, in a nutshell, between the two cultures. The Palestinians revel in any destruction of Jewish holy sites. Israelis proclaim these actions criminal and vow to punish the perpetrators.

Another day, another Iranian threat: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The two-day Iranian conference on the issue of “Palestine” can be resolved if everyone just goes home, says Mad Mahmoud. Really? So the 750,000 Jews from Arab and Muslim lands should return to Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, and other lands can all go home again? The Arabs won’t have a problem with that? Because the reason they left in the first place were government-sponsored pogroms, lynchings, mob attacks, and murders. It was a population transfer, not unlike the many post-WWII population transfers. Funny how only the Arabs haven’t gotten over it yet. Oh, by the way—the Ayatollah made it plain that having a Jewish state on “Muslim land” is unacceptable. Anyone who thinks this isn’t a religious war isn’t being honest.

Maybe now the AP will stop calling him a spy: Egypt is now admitting that Ilan Grapel is not a spy, just a poor schlub that they arrested for no reason whatsoever. Well, they’re not admitting the latter, but by admitting he isn’t a spy, they may as well be. Maybe now the AP will stop calling him a “suspected” spy. Not even “alleged”? Yeah, the AP double standard for Israel is on, 24/7.

Another day, another anti-Semitic trope in mainstream newspapers: Let’s see… Misinformation on the UN partition of the Mandate of Palestine, check. Mentioning the Israel Lobby’s sway over Western nations, check. Apologies for terrorism, check. Blaming Israel for everything? But of course. Eff you, Malcolm Fraser, prime minister of Australia from 1975 to 1982. Best be careful. Your Israel-hatred is showing.

Don Lapre isn’t selling this strategy: Looks like he stopped dreaming. Now, people. I love watching informercials on all cooking gadgets. And I mean ALL of them. But don’t pick up that phone! (You can get it cheaper at a flea market. That’s how I got my Super Slicers.)

A good thing happened, for a change: Thank you, Jordanians, for being the sane Israeli neighbors. The call to replicate the Egyptian violation of international law and centuries-old treaties by protesting in front of (and attacking, of course) the Israeli embassy drew only a few hundred. Apparently, the average Jordanian has better things to do than fight with security forces. Also, Jordan respects the laws and had a strong security presence in advance of the “protest”. Here’s hoping the forces of Islamism are weak there, because the last thing Israel needs is a war on all fronts.

About effing time: The U.K. finally amended the law that enables any idiot to put out an arrest warrant for anyone in the world, and yet, that action seems to be nearly exclusively used to file arrest warrants against Israelis. Why is that, we wonder? (Can you say, “Jew-hatred”? We knew you could.) The U.K. ambassador insists five other countries had people with arrest warrants taken out on them. Really? Name them. Besides Tzipi Livni, they charged Emir Peretz, Moshe Yaalon, Ehud Barak, and General Doron Almog, forcing the last to stay on his plane at Heathrow in order to avoid arrest. Really, dude, name the other five people charged, because I’m calling bullshit on you.

More tough talk from Turkey: Once again, a NATO member is threatening a fellow NATO member’s ally. Time for Barack Obama to prove he can threaten someone besides the ruling council of Egypt. Really, why isn’t our Secretary of State responding to the threats continuously being made by Turkey against Israel?

And yet, there are no leaks of 45-minute dressing-downs by the Secretary of State: The Palestinians are openly defying the Obama Administration. The AP is actually writing that the Palestinians are openly defying the U.S. But since it isn’t about a long-planned release of tenders for a suburb of Jerusalem being released during at vice-presidential visit, apparently, it doesn’t rate very high on the Obama Outrage Scale. And by “openly defying,” we mean, “OPENLY DEFYING.”

In a direct challenge to the United States, the Palestinians said Thursday they will ask the Security Council next week to accept them as a full member of the United Nations, even though Washington has promised to veto the measure.

Really, you can’t get much more defiant than that. So what’s the Obama Administration doing? Scrambling. Double standards? You betcha!

Yeah, but they have to have the ability to fire first: Turkey is installing new “friend or foe” software in its F-16s, the better to target IAF jets with. Isn’t it time for Barack Obama to have a talk with Turkey? Isn’t it time for NATO to tell Turkey to cut this crap out? A NATO member is regularly threatening a NATO ally with war. But of course, let’s not forget that Israeli Double Standard Time is in effect. That’s why no NATO statement on Turkey’s threats to a nation that has not threatened it—ever—are being ignored. Report after report after report. When does Turkey stop making with the rhetoric and start acting? Israel can’t afford to find out.

A break in the anti-Israel rhetoric: Romania memorializes six fallen IDF soldiers. Bravo, Romania.

If you’ve lost the Greens: One of Australia’s Green MPs came out against the boycott of Israeli products. Good on you, mate. (Of course, he’s still not pro-Israel, but at least he’s not on the side of the Nazis, I mean, the anti-Zionists targeting Jewish shops.

By the numbers: 2,600 dead in the Syrian protests against the Dorktator. Number of UNSC resolutions against Syria: Zero. Number of UNHRC commissions investigating Syria through August: Zero. Number starting this past Monday: 1. (And they passed a strongly-worded resolution, woo!) Publicity for that compared with publicity for the Goldstone Commission: Oh, please, I was just joking. Number of outrageously outraged protests against Syria worldwide: Zero. Can you say, “Israeli Double Standard Time”? I knew you could.

It’s a star! It’s an asteroid! No, it’s SUPER-EARTH: Kewl. Too bad we’re dismantling our space program, so we won’t be able to figure out how to visit Super-Earth. Okay, so it’s 35 light-years away, speed of light, carry the two… bummer. No visiting Super-Earth in my lifetime.

Turkey continues its anti-Israel agenda: Erdogan totally has Arab street creds now; he’s suspended all trade ties with Israel. Say, Erdie, you do realize that means the Israeli UAVs you bought aren’t going to be maintained, don’t you? Good luck with those PKK terrorists! Hope the Chinese have stolen enough American/Israeli technology to fill the bill!

Robert Gates seems to be a tad unhappy with Israel: Gates called Israel “an ungrateful ally” and further said the Obama administration gets nothing in return for the aid to Israel. That is patently untrue; U.S. Marines are training in Israel for door-to-door city combat. However, rather than launch a defensive defense of Bibi (to be repetitive and redundant): This is not good. Robert Gates should not be slamming Israel. It wasn’t good when James Baker did it; it’s not good now. And boy, aren’t the Israel haters going to make hay over this.

Speaking of ungrateful allies: The U.S. is spying on Israel—from the Israeli embassy.

World hypocrisy watch: The UN is complaining about Syria’s civilians under fire by the army. Will there be any action? Stay tuned.

Well, that sure goes against the narrative: More than three-fourths of those arrested in the London riots had criminal records. Really? No fooling? You mean it wasn’t a crime of the impoverished underclass fighting against the haves, struggling not to be a have-not anymore? Shyeah. If you keep up with the London papers, you know that the Brits rarely give criminals jailtime, do send to prison those homeowners who strike back at burglars in their homes, and give murderers the chance to get out of jail after little time served to murder again. Don’t blame the police. Blame the British system that insists that criminals be coddled instead of punished.
