“Meatless Monday” at Bowdoin college backfired, big-time. The students organized a protest by finding their own ways to eat meat for dinner.

Dozens of students held an impromptu barbecue outside one facility in protest. Two other students sold McDonald’s cheeseburgers while simultaneously raising funds for a local humane society. Another group of students ate buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken inside the dining hall.

How is it that no matter how often it’s tried, people who think that forcing us to do what they think is right simply create resistance to whatever their cause was in the first place?

But Doug Johnston, a junior who helped organize the barbecue (and who said he and his friends consider themselves generally to be liberal), said that as soon as he heard about Meatless Monday, “we were saying, ‘This isn’t quite right.’ ”

He explained that “the assumption that is implied by saying we need to raise awareness by having Meatless Monday is that people aren’t aware,” which he questions. “I think taking away the option to moderately eat meat from those who are aware of the issues — it upset me, that they decided I shouldn’t have access to meat on Monday, denying the option to eat meat even moderately.”

Johnston found an irony in the fact that much of the “Meatless Monday” campaign focused on eating less meat, in having a more balanced diet, yet the organizers made the day completely meat-free.

Note that the kids are self-identified liberals, and even they are rebelling against the nanny statism of the college. I think the kids coming out of high school and college today are far more independent than they are made out to be. I think you’re going to see the pendulum swing back to the middle, after being so far left, for so long. The battle over the unions in Wisconsin is just the first of many.

(Never dreamed I will be defending McDonald’s, even in a roundabout way…)

I am tired of repeating myself, but there is no alternative:

When you think that cheap and revolting propaganda cannot get any cheaper and more revolting, here come PETA puppets – a pitiful result of accidental cross-breeding between STD and Ebola – with a new idea.

It started with fanfares:

Nine years after calling a truce with McDonald’s Corp., People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it is going on a new offensive against the Oak Brook-based fast-food giant, this time over the most humane way to kill a chicken.

And here we are now:

Around noon today, people coming to McDonald’s for lunch found “unhappy meals.” Inside the box they found a bloody rubber chicken, packet of ketchup blood, knife-wielding Ronald McDonald, and a tee-shirt. PETA said it was all part of a bigger message.

Of course, this is effective. Especially with kids…

I hope that the clip doesn’t disappear, but the kid in it said loud and clear what he thinks about this new idiotic venture of PETA: it was kind of crazy. And I shudder at the thought about this “bigger message”. If the above was only a part, what is coming yet? Who are the next people whom PETA hadn’t yet offended, insulted or plainly pissed off?

Anyhoo, I had me a dream after the last non-vegetarian lunch: I was running along a street in Ronald M. uniform, with blood-dripping knife in my hand after a PETA member. I will skip the gory details, but the last scene was where I am sitting at a table in McDonald’s eating PETA nuggets from a bucket. Yummy…

Six years ago, on March 15th, we celebrated our first-ever Eat a Tasty Animal for PETA Day, in response to the offensive “Holocaust on Your Plate” ad campaign by PETA.

If you haven’t heard by now, PETA has started yet another offensive ad campaign. This one really reaches bottom—they are using Holocaust terminology, quotes, and pictures to liken the “slaughter” of animals to the slaughter of the Jews by the Nazis.

I’ve already received a letter from a child of Holocaust survivors who is, of course, extraordinarily offended. But here’s the thing: PETA is known for this kind of outrageous publicity stunt—and that’s what it is, an outrageous publicity stunt—and while I am also offended and outraged, there is absolutely nothing we can do that will make PETA change their ad campaign. I’m sure they knew exactly what they were doing, have a plan in mind, and, if they withdraw the campaign, will do it according to their deadlines and their decisions.

So let’s make up our own outrageous publicity stunt. Let’s designate Saturday, March 15th, as International Eat an Animal for PETA Day. Everybody set the date on your calendar, and either go out and enjoy a great steak, or cook one at home. Or cook up some chicken or fish or anything else that PETA wouldn’t want you to eat. And let’s let PETA know how their ad campaign has affected us.

Now, Germany’s highest court has agreed with us. It’s official: PETA runs offensive ad campaigns.

Germany’s highest court has ruled that a PETA ad campaign comparing animal slaughterhouses to the Holocaust is an offense against human dignity.

The 2003 campaign used eight, 60-square-foot (5.6-sq. meter) panels depicting images of factory farms next to Jewish concentration camp inmates and the slogan “Holocaust on your plate.”

The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe on Thursday ruled that the ad campaign was not protected under freedom of speech laws.

PETA issued a statement that sounds awfully familiar to me:

“‘Holocaust on Your Plate’ was the idea of a Jewish PETA member, was funded by a Jewish PETA member, and is supported by people who believe that the original Holocaust was an atrocity that never would have happened if members of society had realized that discrimination based on any difference between living beings is supremacism.

And here’s why it sounded so familiar: Because PETA is still lying about the ad campaign. Six years ago, they made it seem like Isaac Bashevis Singer, who had been dead for eight years, was behind the campaign.

The concept of our campaign originated with Nobel Prize-winning Yiddish author and vegetarian Isaac Bashevis Singer, who said, “In relation to [animals], all people are Nazis; for [them], it is an eternal Treblinka.” As you may know, Singer fled Europe as the Nazis were coming into power and lost most of his family in the Holocaust. He became a vegetarian as a result of what he lived through and what he saw. He spoke out in favor of vegetarianism until his death in 1991. His argument was that it doesn’t matter who the victims are-we must speak out against all atrocities and cruelties and help to stop them.

PETA also lied to get the rights or outright stole copyrighted Holocaust photos used in the campaign.

The Holocaust Council was doubly angered because it was the primary source of the Holocaust images used in the campaign. The PETA Web site offers a glimpse of the display; at the end, it said “Holocaust photos courtesy of USHMM.”

But Museum officials say they never gave permission for its images to be used in such a display. PETA’s use of them “improperly and incorrectly implies that the Museum, a federal government establishment, endorses PETA’s project,” the Council’s lawyer wrote.

On Tuesday, the animal rights group responded, insisting that use of the photographs is “consistent with the Museum’s mission statement,” and claimed that an anonymous Jewish philanthropist funds the project.

The group also said it “requested, received and paid for the use of the photographs”— a claim Museum officials vehemently deny.

Arthur Berger, communications director for the Museum, said that a representative of the group sought the materials without indicating his PETA connection or how the material would be used.

“It was clearly a misrepresentation, at minimum, of what [the photographs] would be used for, he said. “There was no indication it would be used in a comparison with animals. Once we learned of this obscene connection, we sent a cease and desist letter.”

Six years later, PETA is still lying. Well, at least they’re consistent.

Long live EATAPETA Day.

Yes, PETA is filled with very tall three-year-olds who really crave attention. Get a load of their latest attention-getting project: Selling George Clooney’s sweat. (H/T: Kat)

Just when we thought we’d seen it all from PETA — the animal rights organization known for high-profile celebrity ads — President Ingrid Newkirk has come up with this: George Clooney-flavored tofu.

In a letter sent to the actor, Newkirk said that PETA has been offered his gym towel (obtained right here in D.C.!) and wants to use his sweat to create Clooney tofu that will “spare animals from being killed for the table.” She went on to explain that the science is pretty simple, like “making artificial chicken flavor for instant gravy.”

Of course, it’s simply a publicity stunt. As for Clooney, he’s firmly in the “Ew!” column:

“As a mammal, I’m offended,” he told us yesterday through his rep.

March 15th is International Eat A Tasty Animal for PETA Day. Chow down on real food, not imaginary food made with sweat. (Ew. Ew. Ew.)

An animal lover, Tricia took part in this campaign because she wanted to help spread the word. “I really just thought that this campaign ‘Angels for Animals’ is something that I feel is a good message to get out there, that they are part of the family and you should treat them as part of the family.” So say we all!

The above is an example of how to write a really bad article. Oh, how cutesy—”So say we all.”

Look, I don’t care if she has a Maine Coon cat. The woman is missing a few brain cells if she’s on the PETA bandwagon.

Remember, March 15th, next Sunday, is International Eat A Tasty Animal for PETA Day. Piss PETA off. Eat meat. Or dairy products. Or even tofurkey, if you’re a vegan. It isn’t that we don’t like animals. We do. We don’t like PETA and animal rights “activist” tactics.

That’s right, folks, it’s that time of year again. Time to go out and eat animal products for breakfast, animal products for lunch, and animal products for dinner. Why? Well, animal products are good for you. They’re tasty. And PETA really wants you to stop eating meat.

This year, you can follow the IEATAPETA Day festivities via a brand-new EATAPETA Facebook group.

So they do stupid things. Like run truly offensive ad campaigns? Or run a shelter with a 97% kill rate. Or wear KKK costumes to protest a dog show. (Yes, really.)

Hey, they started it: six years ago, I wrote this.

PETA has started yet another offensive ad campaign.

Let’s not forget that Ingrid Newkirk’s will says she wants people to make purses out of her skin after she dies. And I can’t find an original source for this, but I would not be surprised to find that it is true: Newkirk said:

“The leather sofa and handbag are the moral equivalent of the lampshades made from the skins of people killed in the death camps.”

That’s why this keeps going every year. People are tired of extremist nutjobs masquerading as activists. There are plenty of organizations out there that truly have animals’ best interests at heart. PETA isn’t one of them. So go out and have some meat, eggs, and dairy products two weeks from today. Anything that a hard-core vegan won’t eat works for EATAPETA Day. And frankly, if you’re a hardcore vegan and still hate PETA, have some tofurkey in our honor.
