The Islamist Spring

Wow, that Arab Spring was awesome, wasn’t it?

We helped Libya defeat Moammar Gadhaffi, and they helped themselves to murder our ambassador and three other Americans. Why? Because they’re pissed off at a film that insults Mohammed released by an American. Look at this whitewash in the Los Angeles Times:

Wanis al-Sharif, Libya’s deputy minister of the interior, told the Associated Press that Stevens and three others had died as the crowd torched the consulate in Benghazi hours after demonstrators scaled the wall of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo in protest over the anti-Muslim video. A Twitter message from Libya’s deputy prime minister, Mustafa Abu Shagur, condemned the death of Stevens and the other American personnel killed in the attack.

They used RPGs.

A Libyan official told Reuters on Wednesday that “the American ambassador and three staff members were killed when gunmen fired rockets at them.” Al Arabiya reported that Stevens died of suffocation during the attack on the consulate in Benghazi, citing Interior Ministry sources.

The bodies were carried thorugh the streets (picture at link, maddening but not gruesome) by the “protestors”. Yeah, protestors. Not like they’re terrorists or anything, attacking a U.S. embassy and murdering four staff members. Word is two Marines are dead as well.

The media is full of accounts of the film, and especially happy to spread this particular news:

The film’s 52-year-old writer, director and producer, Sam Bacile, said that he wanted to showcase his view of Islam as a hateful religion. “Islam is a cancer,” he said in a telephone interview from his home Tuesday. “The movie is a political movie. It’s not a religious movie.”

Mr. Bacile said he raised $5 million from about 100 Jewish donors, whom he declined to identify. Working with about 60 actors and 45 crew members, he said he made the two-hour movie in three months last year in California.

Good work, media. Emphasize that Jewish conspiracy angle. The Islamists will love it! Great investigative reporting. That’s from the AP, of course. Of course, there’s more. The guy is now in hiding, and blaming the Americans for not having proper protection for the embassies. He’s a total asshole who represents neither Jews nor Israel, but watch for the blowback.

An Israeli filmmaker based in California went into hiding Tuesday after his movie attacking Islam’s prophet Muhammad sparked angry assaults by ultra-conservative Muslims on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya, where one American was killed.

The AP is doing their best stereotyping in reporting on this.

Bacile, a California real estate developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew, said he believes the movie will help his native land by exposing Islam’s flaws to the world.

“Islam is a cancer, period,” he said repeatedly, his solemn voice thickly accented.

See? He’s an Israeli! He has a thick accent! Get him, not us! Those evil Zionists!

And just down the road in Egypt, a mob of “protesters” attacked the American embassy. Nobody died there, and the Egyptian army didn’t step in until the Islamists had their fun.

The president issued a statement this morning. It includes an apology for free speech.

I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America’s commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

It’s good to know that our professor of Constitutional Law has such a great grasp of the First Amendment.

Looks like our aid to Libya and Egypt will keep on flowing, regardless. What a guy.

Curious that the Obama admin supported the “Arab Spring” uprisings in Egypt & Libya, but not in Syria; nor did BHO support a “Persian Spring” in Iran back in his first yr. And, WITH WAR LOOMING, OBAMA REFUSES TO MEET WITH NETANYAHU AT U.N. MEETINGS, BUT MAKES TIME FOR DAVID LETTERMAN by Joel C. Rosenberg http://flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com/ (Albuquerque, New Mexico, September 12, 2012) — Signaling a new low in U.S.-Israeli relations — especially troubling with a possible major war in the Middle East so close at hand — President Obama turned down two possibilities for a personal meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the Israeli premier comes to the U.S. later this month. Obama aides say the President simply doesn’t have time on his schedule for Netanyahu. The President reportedly will have time to appear on “The Late Show” with David Letterman while he’s in New York, however. A Wall Street Journal editorial on Wednesday morning said the White House message to Israel seems to be, “You’re on your own, pal.”

Not curious at all. We went into Libya because the Arab League asked us to. Obama is simply not on our side.

    BTW, http://www.israellycool.com/2012/09/12/who-is-sam-bacile/

He’s got the body in a fireman’s carry and reports are contradicting whether he was paraded through streets or carried to a hospital. Also, they can’t even find evidence their is a Sam Bacile and he may actually be Egyptian. http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/09/muhammad-film-consultant-sam-bacile-is-not-israeli-and-not-a-real-name/262290/

A number of sources have stated that the “protests were planned long before the movie was released and it was deliberately set for 9/11. Even CNN has reported it.

But U.S. sources said Wednesday the four-hour assault in Benghazi had been planned beforehand, with the attackers using the protest as a diversion.
