Monday briefs

Oh, so that’s why summer feels so long already: Did you know there was a leap second added to the year? And that it wreaked havoc on the interwebs?

More evidence of Justice Roberts’ cowardice: More articles are coming out about how the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court yielded to op-eds and politicos’ opinions, rather than deal with the actual legalities of the Obamacare case. Republicans are vowing repeal, but the damage to the Constitution is done. The Supremes hate upsetting precedent, and the precedent has been set that Congress can do any damned thing it pleases as long as it calls it a tax and not a mandate.

Gee, I wonder why Israelis don’t want to work for the UN? Apparently, the fact that there are only two Israeli “volunteers” (volunteers get a monthly salary, health benefits, and can have their families join them overseas–only in the UN is a salaried worker called a “volunteer”) is causing the UN to try to lure more Israelis into working in UN projects in Third World nations. Because it’s not like Israel doesn’t already teach Third World nations how to use drip irrigation, desalinization plants, or send in help during disasters. Oh. Wait. They do. Hey, I have an idea for a slogan: Come work for the UN, Israelis, and we’ll hate you a tiny bit less!

That’s because Abbas is stealing too much, too fast: The PA is supposedly having its worst financial crisis ever. Perhaps those leaders of the PA should open up their Swiss bank accounts and put back some of the money they stole. That ought to cover it. Oh, don’t be ridiculous. Of course I don’t believe they would. But they should. And why are they having a shortfall? Besides the thievery, I mean. Because the Arab donor nations aren’t ponying up. Gee, you’d think that their “beloved Palestinian brothers” would never run out of donations, wouldn’t you? Shyeah. Right.

Oh, don’t be ridiculous. Jews weren’t in the Galilee 1600 years ago: More evidence of the Jewish heritage in the Jewish homeland. No matter how hard the Palestinians try, they can’t erase our history.

Bomb the crap out of them and they won’t be able to: The IDF says Hezbollah might fire on cargo ships to cause a blockade of Israel during a war. Guess that means the IAF has to work fast. But if Hezbollah does that, and the Egyptians close the Suez–which is more likely than the ones professing that Egypt is run by Islamic “moderates”–it’s going to be hard on Israel.
